Wow! I finally watched Munjya and I am super impressed with Abhay Verma's performance. For some reason, he reminded of young Shahid Kapoor from his Ishq Vishq days.
He is only 26 btw and younger than the likes of Sidhant Chaturvedi, Ishan Khattar, Rohit Saraf, Abhimany Dasani, etc who're all such bland and dull actors. (Rohit is cute, but he plays the same role in every film/series
.)
Abhay, on the other hand, not only played his role brilliantly, but also had very good screen presence. He seems like a versatile actor too, as I learnt that he played a transgender in another film called Safed.
I will definitely watch that film now.
I am anyways tired of watching the prototype hyper-masculine & aggressive heroes onscreen again and again.
I also don't like watching caricature-ish & chapri characters onscreen, which has become a norm. (Looking at those slice-of-life films starring Vicky/Rajkumar/Ayushman
)
So watching Abhay Verma in Muniya was like a sigh of relief and such a welcome change. It's good to know that Munjya was BO success so hopefully he will get good films now onward.
I checked his other pics and he looked like an awkward teenager until a year ago, but I think he has finally reached the right age. He came across as a nice guy during his interviews too.
I am low-key crushing on him right now
, which is weird because he is younger than me.
