That's the thing, this is not an ordinary situation, she cannot go back to her house, it's not like her uncle and family are going to welcome her back with open arms, her mom is weak and doesn't stand up for anything. The show has literally force-fed that information to us, so Mehru has to do what she has to do.

I think that she aims more than making him fall for her. She wants to know the deepest secrets of this family to know how to fight with them.

Yes in an ideal world , she exposes the family in the first night itself and her family welcomes her back. For now , she has to stay in the house, play nice, pretend to be a dutiful bahu and then take revenge.
