there was so much outcry for alia winning for RRKPK last yr ; but now it seems , we all happy Kirti winning for average TBMAUJ . One needs to check reviews of Alia for RRKPK . It was all good reviews smiley36plus movie was decent success like TBMAUJ .

I kept shouting here guys , it’s a popular category and movie was more successful than Rani’s ’Mrs C

Nah nobody care , the issue was it was Alia winning

Alia was good in that one. For the first time didn’t like Rani in Mrs C..very loud acting.

There is also "best actress - critic award" which could go to Kareena...in my thinking it's an award which says more about acting than a movie's boxoffice success smiley1 (just only read until page 2...)

That 'should' be like that if there wouldn't be the category "popular" (which stretches from stardom to boxoffice success, also including performance) and the category "critics" (which clearly focusses on the acting performance).

Kriti, e.g. - don't know why Bri still writes the name wrong - became quite popular with her performance as a 'robot' (and was lauded for that) - Do Patti should not play a role as there are also the OTT awards now.

Alia's performance in Jigra certainly wasn't as bad as some people made it, but I think the movie as such wasn't well made.

Kareena's performance was almost unanimously praised but crime movies don't do well in theatres, especially not in Hindi Cinema (likewise with biopics).

Filmfare and other mainstream awards need to evolve. Instead of having popular and critics categories, they should consider categories for theatrical and OTT releases. Over time, some of the best performances are coming from OTT platforms, since actors can focus more on their craft without the pressure of box office numbers. Honestly, I can't even think of two standout performances in the popular category this year, but OTT had multiple great ones.

They literally created "Filmfare OTT Awards" (for both films and web series) in 2020.

You can read about that here.

Check out the reviews thread of the movie, including your own. It got pretty average feedback overall, and the same goes for Kriti. Most critics mentioned how beautiful she looked, but no one really focused on her performance. When it's a standout performance, people talk about it for days. In Do Patti, for example, her performance is getting a lot of praise, even though the movie itself didn’t do well.
