It's not about TB and IM only.
These days no dramas have pacing like this. KMKT was very well paced even tho it was not TB or IM. Look at Radd. It had so much content every episode and moved briskly. Even Mann Jogi was well-paced despite being an artsy show.
Even Haseeb's previous dramas like JSA and Alif were slow burn but I did not have the slow pace issues with them that I have with SMD. Yunhi was slow burn too but the pace never felt stretched. In fact, it felt soothing. Scenes got time to breathe but Ehteshamuddin did not use any of these stretching tactics Haseeb is doing.
This kind of dragging we see in SMD is what Geo typically does in second half of their dramas to stretch episode count. Take khaie, the first half was very fast paced but after e15, it all got dragged with slo-mo, pauses and fbs to stretch episode count. But at least we got 14 good episodes that had lots of plot movement and were fast paced, and that hooked audiences who then watched even the post-e15 draggy episodes. The problem with stretching from the beginning is that people don't get the chance to become hooked as you turn them off from the very start.
we need to remove the fat somehow I’m also thinking same that this slow pace is because they want to extend the episodes because krq always writes below 30.
