There is an audience for shows like TB which was a full masala entertainer with a solid love story. Massy love stories like this will never go out of fashion and have a huge fan base. There is a reason why Mills and Boons, Pride and Prejudice are classics.

SMD is a different kind of a love story with a different audience. Those who enjoy slow burns, depth, philosophical stuff. Even such love stories have their own fan base.

Both are good in their own rights. I don't see the need for comparison.

But I think those who are habituated of pace like that of TB,for them SMD's pace would be too slow..

Also I feel geo tv and 7th sky is purposefully dragging some scenes to increase the no of episodes...I dont think writing is at fault here.

This is my first ptv ongoing show I’m watching while it’s running. Rest of them whatever I watched were humsafar, zgh, jbg, ishq jalebi which were finished already. ITV mein slow nahi hote mostly whatever I watched so I’m feeling slow pace here and testing my patience.

The writing is overall fine except certain dragged scenes of sadafs family and marhum.

But the direction is miserable. Haseeb sucked out the life of this show with his slow direction and slomos during sadafs family scenes.

It's not about TB and IM only.

These days no dramas have pacing like this. KMKT was very well paced even tho it was not TB or IM. Look at Radd. It had so much content every episode and moved briskly. Even Mann Jogi was well-paced despite being an artsy show.

Even Haseeb's previous dramas like JSA and Alif were slow burn but I did not have the slow pace issues with them that I have with SMD. Yunhi was slow burn too but the pace never felt stretched. In fact, it felt soothing. Scenes got time to breathe but Ehteshamuddin did not use any of these stretching tactics Haseeb is doing.

This kind of dragging we see in SMD is what Geo typically does in second half of their dramas to stretch episode count. Take khaie, the first half was very fast paced but after e15, it all got dragged with slo-mo, pauses and fbs to stretch episode count. But at least we got 14 good episodes that had lots of plot movement and were fast paced, and that hooked audiences who then watched even the post-e15 draggy episodes. The problem with stretching from the beginning is that people don't get the chance to become hooked as you turn them off from the very start.

Don't know about the initial 20 episodes but the last 10 episodes would trend in 20s, 30s just like smd. The second last and last epi would directly make an entry at top 3 then move up to 2 and 1 in india.
