I'm not sure whether I liked this movie. Shailee's sudden love for Saumya didn't make sense. It was clear from the beginning they hated each other since childhood, so I don't understand Shailee's change of heart. Perhaps it would have been better if they showed the sisters do love each other, and their relationship deteriorated because they both loved the same man, and then they both support each other when they realize Dhruv is the wrong guy.
Dhruv's sentence is a grey area. On one hand, he did not attempt to murder Saumya, but he was a serious threat to her life. It was also shown in the film that Dhruv was trying to stop Shailee from hanging on. It also can't be easily proven that Shailee unbuckled her harness so don't think it would've been easy to acquit Dhruv.
Kriti's performance was the best in this film. Shaheer was good in his negative role. Kajol was good in the court room scenes and the interrogation scenes with Shaheer. Her other scenes as a police officer was limited. I think she did her best with the material she was given so I don't understand the criticism for her acting that she was just herself and she was acting like Anjali. I think other female actresses like Raveena, Shefali, Tabu and Rani had more scope.

They only had problems after their mother died. And we know from the ending that this was partly because Saumya witnessed their father kill their mother but was told by the uncle and by Shailee to not inform the police. Saumya was traumatized by seeing her mother murdered and not being able to expose the culprit. Shailee is reminded of this when she sees Saumya breaking down and referencing that moment. That's when she realizes how much damage she inadvertently caused Saumya and also realizes the abuse from Dhruv was real. Before this, she thought Saumya was making it up as a drama queen, so that scene is a reality check for Shailee to understand that her actions set this in motion and that Saumya is not making the abuse up. History is repeating itself. It's why she decides then and there that Dhruv needs to be stopped and sets her plan in motion.
What Dhruv did to Saumya was almost murder. While pregnant, he beat her so badly and threw her down the staircase. I was shocked she was even able to get up after that without hospitalization. She could very easily have been killed. And Dhruv said several times that he could or would kill her, so the intention was clear that this was an option for him. He even tells Tanvi Azmi's character that because Saumya is crazy, he can kill her and make it appear to be suicide. So he was definitely homicidal even if he didn't get to the point where he actively tried to kill her. The only reason he didn't is because Shailee put her plan in motion so it wouldn't get that far, as she tells Kajol.
And I agree with you that people are being too harsh on Kajol's role. She was definitely not playing either of her Anjalis. If anything, the character felt most closely based on Kajol's real life personality but less humorous.

Kriti and her parents
Watched the film. Kriti's best performance till date infact career best she deserves an award for her performance. Shaheer so used to see him in positive roles in his shows especially the Arjun from MB & Devrath Dixit and Abeer image is still so strong in my mind & my heart it was little hard for me to accept but in a negative character he was good and gave his best. Kajol had limited screentime how much can she offer which most of them are complaining when she can do a Gupt & Dushman this role was nothing for her it was a cakewalk the problem is screentime and they should have drop the accent because at times it seem like Anjali but whatever was given to her she was amazing. I don't want to compare it with Rani Raveena Tabu where their roles were central & the FL
My issue was the story i felt it was a little messy and the ending was lacklustre. The credit was the best when Kajol says its criminal offence. They wanted to send a message it fails due to the messy narrative what holds the film was the performance of Kriti Shaheer & Kajol Tanvi Azmi
This film would not work in theatre. Its meant for OTT it does not have the mass appeal for theatre release, it might flop badly its good decision to release it on OTT.
Its nice to see Tanvi Azmi-Kajol sharing screenspace they brought back the nostalgic memories of Dushman in which Kajol played a dual role as her daughters and the songs were gold
Kriti first production with a good character hope to see such characters under her banner

Kriti hosting Diwali party
IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO WATCH SHAHEER'S CHARACTER DHRUV SOOD. THIS GUY LITERALLY HIT HIS WIFE BLACK AND BLUE. SO USED TO WATCHING NEAR TO PERFECT ROLES ENACTED BY THE ACTOR.
Apart from the acting, I found script to be quite mediocre one can say a copy inspired by so many Netflix originals with a social message of domestic violence thrown in.
The end should have been executed properly, whatever the case maybe, DHRUV SOOD had the intent to murder his wife, he would have done it one way or the other. Kajol's screenplay was compromised, the writers did not really bother about execution, just acting skills made up for the deficits.
Kirti was awesome BTW.
Unfortunately Kriti is not an entitled nepola who has the entire industry and media at her disposal singing peans of her performance making exaggerated headlines calling her Amitabh and Meryl. Audience reviews se hi kaam chalana hoga. But good to see the genuine praise for her performance. Go Kriti!🤌
Kriti killed it with her performance as shailee and saumya and it’s her career best performance. Some of the domestic violence scenes were difficult to watch so ffed it. Shaheer acted so good. Their chemistry is on fire 🔥 Kajol is ok. The message conveyed is good.
