Yashasvi Jaiswal scripts history by smashing 89-year-old Test record

Jaiswal has become the first batter in Test history to amass over 750 runs in their first 10 innings at home

Ever since making his Test debut against West Indies in 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been setting and breaking records for fun.

And on Day 1 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Chennai, the 22-year-old broke yet another record.

On this occasion, he smashed a record that stood for 89 years as he became the first batter in Test history to amass over 750 runs in their first 10 innings at home.

The previous record belonged to West Indies’ George Headley, who, back in 1935, set the record for the most runs at home for a batter after 10 Test innings. Headley had amassed a whopping 747 runs. Jaiswal went past this record during his 56.
