Ravan had sita in his heart and in sita heart is shri ram and in shri ram entire universe.

So ramji was not directly attacking ravan heart.

He kept injuring him to the extent that ravan thinks about saving himself rather than thinking of sita

I didn't remember seeing this in RS Bhul hi gai thi, but you're right. He says the same.. Ravan k hriday mein nirantar Sita ka vaas hai
