The real problem is when people make inflammatory posts with abusive language. This problem has nothing to do with whether a long time member has made that post or whether a newbie did, so, the solution to this doesn't really require measures such as strengthening IP Tracking / analysis or implementing a more rigorous account creation process or browser fingerprinting or some other extreme step like legal action. All you need is some simple automated content filtering.

You could maintain a list of offensive words and phrases that are automatically flagged or blocked. This list should of course be constantly updated. You probably need multilingual blacklists since posters here seem to use Hindi too, in addition to English. If you don't want to implement this from scratch, you may use content moderation APIs that support multiple languages, such as Google Cloud Natural Language API, Microsoft Azure Content Moderator, or Amazon Comprehend.

Good luck!

Thank you for your thoughtful input, K.Universe!

You make an excellent point regarding MIDs and the real issue being the use of inflammatory language and abusive posts. We do agree that focusing on automated content filtering is a practical and effective approach.

We are currently exploring options for maintaining and updating a list of offensive words and phrases. Multilingual support is indeed crucial, and we appreciate your suggestion to consider content moderation APIs that support multiple languages. Google Cloud Natural Language API, Microsoft Azure Content Moderator, and Amazon Comprehend are all excellent recommendations that we will look into.

Your feedback helps us enhance the community experience, and we will continue to strive towards creating a respectful and enjoyable environment for all members.

Thanks again for your valuable suggestions!

Hi,

Can we please have an option to decide if we want to see locked threads or not? As it will increase user experience If the forum only has locked threads users can focus on only those threads that are open. Maybe something like how we have an option to turn on and turn off the signature.

I prefer the search bar to include locked threads too to ensure the accuracy is correct but if threads are locked be we can give an option for user to decide in each forum if they are interested in locked threads or not.

Note: I believe the only posts that need to be hidden are posts that are normal posts and which are not sticky post. As some forum rules are always locked on pinned on top smiley1

Well I did read a while ago that the frontend was plain vanilla JS and I would guess Java for the backend , probably SQL for databases

Seen cloudflare error a few times so I'm guessing that's for CDN

what I'm most curious about is the cloud infra

I would like to take a stab at it too smiley1

HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript/ASP.NET

Apache as the web server.

Most likely SQL Server for database. Could be MySQL too but I doubt it, assuming that you are going with Microsoft's stack.

Editing to say that the cloud hosting service is likely AWS.

Well we are on Microsoft Stack primarily ASP.NET Core & MS SQL. Slowly we are building APIs in Python for AI and Automation. We are using CloudFlare as our CDN. We do use Azure and AWS for different services.

Thank you for your suggestion! We’ll definitely look into adding an option to filter out locked threads for a better user experience.

However, we’ll soon implement a limit on sticky and announcement topics to a maximum of 5, ensuring that fresh and active topics are not pushed down multiple scrolls or to the next page. Eventually, we’ll reduce this to 2, as forum creators / moderators will have the option to display important links on the sidebar for easy access.

Stay tuned for updates!

Has this been done already? In Arjun forum, the forum announcements and sticky threads are gone. They were mostly archive mansion, FF index threads ..
