Honest question — Do you know why they are making a big deal about speaker position btw ? It’s important in general but why such a huge deal ? What does the position control in India ?

Also impeachment of Speaker is difficult, so kal ko agar BJP wants to part ways with TDP and JDU or their members leave them.

Still they won't be at backfoot. It is more about saving themselves.

Announcement is good but what difference does it make for majority ? And if they lose majority it doesn’t make difference either.

Can speaker refuse to announce ?

TDP during 1998 no confidence vote had their speaker voted against the BJP government causing re-elections. Ethically Speaker can't vote owing to neutrality but if Speaker votes it isn't invalid. So they can tilt their sides when needed. Speaker is someone who'll have the control over the proceedings of the house, AP with it's alphabetical advantage always gets the first priority to voice our it's opinions in the house and if speaker is also TDP then they'll have absolute control of the house, helpful to curry more favours. It's all coalition politics

I just know speaker position is important but why so much i don't have much idea. I guess during discussions in passing of laws speaker plays a major role in managing obstruction & ruckus by the opposition and can take Strict actions to maintain decorum.

But maybe some others can shed more light on this topic.

Looks like AP and Bihar will get extra budget or eveb special status

I hope it is not special status
