Aniruddh and Arshi: Ani is a boy born with silver spoon. He is dedicated, world smart, successful person. Along with these, he is super compassionate human being and hence, also naive. He also is an genuine appreciator of talent. I think his character gets depth not only from writing but also due to nuanced performance by Krushal.
He is in committed relationship with Arshi, who also he thinks is just like him. Thinking beyond class status. We initially see Arshi as compassionate human being, supporting Ani when he cares for people. She also gives opportunity to Jhanak out of goodwill. However, superficiality of her goodness comes crumbling down when she perceives Jhanak as a competitor. Her goodness is like of a king doing charity for feel good, but can turn cruel if his position of power is challenged.
Ani and Arshi are in relationship for many years, but through multiple incidences, we see that Arshi controls the relationship and gives second priority to Ani when it comes to her career opportunity. She leaves a preplanned houseboat stay for career. Also, has postponed marriage for career. Ani's subconscious mind has noted it. Arshi does good to people until it does not affect her comfort, including for Ani. When Ani gets hospitalized, she does not stay with him, but just visits him.
Ani takes goodness of Arshi at face value. Hence, belives that Arshi will equally support him when it comes to supporting helpless Jhanak. When Ani gets married, part of him becomes a husband who needs to be responsible for his wife and part who is just like before genuinely committed to Arshi. However, when Arshi does not care for Jhanak, and in spite of being a woman, is ready to send Jhanak to Tejas, Ani starts getting disillusioned with her and their relationship starts falling apart. Ani's belief that Arshi will belive him no matter what keeps breaking down.
On the other side, even though Jhanak is just responsibility initially, he starts seeing genuine, compassionate person in her with time and unknowingly starts falling for her. On one side Arshi did not keep her promise of houseboat stay and on other side Jhanak bears all the brunt for keeping her promise of not disclosing marriage.
Appudi: represent a voice that sees through facade of good mannered people. She instantly sees through Jhanak's pure heart beyond her on the face rude behavior.
With time, Arshi will turn vile (maybe) and Appudi will become big Jhanak- Ani shipper.
