Showing women having a career does not fetch TRPs it seems 😜; so PHs will intro the leads and stories with a bang as if their FLs are distinguished examples of “women empowerment”. New York City is literally one of the costliest cities in the world. Way more costlier than Mumbai or Bangaluru which are costliest in India. A plate of dhokla is 10x costlier there than entire meals here. Fair wage is $15/hr there (which is low for NY no doubt, but way above Indian rates.) A cook definitely gets paid more by law there than similar jobs here which is why hospitality sector has so many cases of wage theft. And more than that, there is nothing wrong with doing service jobs.

People working under someone are not undignified. People who own food carts here do not earn more than there lol. MINIMUM fair wage in NYC is more than 1300 rupees per hour @ $16/hr lol. Cooks earn around $ 20/hr in NYC. Upma is earning more than 13000 rupees a day there. We just have inadequate labour laws here. That also tells you how unjustly costly NY is.

People's dreams change. I don't understand holding that talwar over people. I wanted to be popstar when I was young. I realised there are more talented and/or more well-connected people than me. As an adult, I wouldn't want to go through showbiz even if it were practical for me. Ab usi dream ko pakad kar loser jaisa toh nahi feel kar sakte na. Dancers notoriously have even less job security than cooks.

That said dkp deffo has an anti-woman issue where they eff up the writing so badly that many people end up siding with the godawful male characters than the wronged woman.

Pakhi was literally beaten by her husband but they have turned her into such a sexist stereotype that her husband is the good guy now. Similar thing will happen with Abhira too where a section of the audience will unjustly bash her to defend the male characters.
