I didn't pay attention when he might have said about the wedding not happening as I always assume they're trying to play a bit with the viewers and later there's a plot change, just to "surprise" viewers.

Sushima's wife was mother of Nigrodh. Nigrodh was son of Sushima who influenced Ashok towards Sangha. In another source Nigrodh's place is taken by a guy named Samudra.

Tushaspha was a Greek (Yavana) with Persian roots , friend of Ashok and Governor of Saurashtra. He had the title of Raja.

Radhagupta was minister of Bindusara and later of Ashok. He helped Ashok a lot to get the throne.

Nigrodh became a monk, at that time the only way for a prince to save his life was to become a monk. A monk would be above any emotion of love or hate. You are forgetting Mauryas had diplomatic and marital relationship with Yavanas. Chandragupta first defeated Greek Satrapies in north west and even before that Yavanas lived there. Bhavishya Purana mentions Chandragupta's chief queen was daughter of a Yavana king named Suluva who ruled over Paursa. Ashok in his Inscription mentions Yavanas living under his empire also follows Dhamma.
