From which angle? Acting? Yes but Aishwarya and Katrina are extremely popular and beautiful, their fandoms can eat 10 Alias. Alia is pathetic when the writing is poor, Aish and Katrina will still sell a kajra re or chikni, Alia trying to be fake Kajol and Deepika doesn’t make her better.

She is deficient in every way. Lacks any iconic roles or movies. Name any actress from the 90s/2000s and you can probably list multiple famous roles for them. Not just famous movies, but actual character names that they played because they're so beloved for the characters they portrayed. People still adore Om Shanti Om to this day. Same with Piku or Cocktail. Katrina has her movies with Akshay and Salman like Namastey London and Ek Tha Tiger. So it's not just a matter of eras because even contemporary actresses have proven that they can have iconic and beloved films past the 90s/2000s era. Look at all the outpouring of love for Parineeti's Hasee Toh Phasee or Anushka's Band Baaja Baaraat. Even Sonam has Raanjhanaa and I see a lot of love for Khoobsurat online as well.

The songs from decades ago are still playing and on our lips whereas the songs from this one's movies disappear from thought by the next year. Everything she does is purely mediocre. She is a mediocre actress, mediocre dancer, has mediocre chemistry with co-stars, and is even mediocre in looks. In Sridevi and Madhuri's time, they truly had that box office clout and audience adoration. You can expose this one's "starpower" in an instant if you don't pay attention to PR nonsense gushing over her with fabricated BO numbers.

This, all on point. Say what you want about Katrina, Aishwarya or even Deepika as performers but they have the oomph and mass appeal that this one lacks severely. In no way would she be able to pull off Laila, Zoya, Shantipriya, Veronica, Piku, Padmavati, Paro, Jodhaa, Sofia, even Sunehri. No iconic movies, no iconic roles, no real iconic pairing and she's a very limited actress too.

Pretty sure only Deepika's entry in Ajab Si is more iconic than anything Alia has done. People know Shantipriya, Naina, Meenamma, Padmavati, but who cares about Shanaya, Mehnat, whatever her name is in Udta Punjab etc outside of social media. Dances toh dur ki baat hai, I bet even Katrina Kaif's Jasmine/Jazz is more memorable than of her characters amongst the masses.

@bold Preach. I don't remember who'd said that in some other thread but her living this created fake reality will indeed hit her like a truck someday. I don't want to wish bad for her (or anyone's) career but it honestly won't be shocking to see her being nowhere soon. Because most of her success is an image created by her PR and KJo, and then the media follows suit. She'd be nowhere without KJo.

Even her box office failures are portrayed as successes because of KJo's backing. Gangubai (181cr budget and 126cr nett business), RRKPK (160cr budget and 150cr nett) and Brahmastra (let's not even) being successes is utter scam. They've conveniently used the worldwide figures on Wikipedia to save face lmao (and before anyone starts talking about Fighter, yes Viacom is doing the same with ww figures, I'm not deluded about its general underperformance 🤓).

But yeah, you can be shrewd in a world where you have backing, PR and media being invasive but that does not get you the love and recognition of the audience.
