Just going to post some concluding thoughts on Dobara overall.

So LOL ek baat toh common hai between ITV and Pak TV....there is no honor allowed for men....saare aadmi are cheater, dumb and confused but aurat mahaan and sacrificing hai

Dobara frankly bungled their script on my levels. Firstly a character like Mahir who had so much scope to be shown evolving from his initial circumstances in the story was reduced to nothing but a cheater by the end....lol. The guy who made such grand declarations of love towards Mehru constantly was shown flipping on that so called love MULTIPLE times. The guy who made so much effort to help Mehru's kids, sort out all the problems in their lives was overnight shown being like WHATEVER about them

Basically they didn't allow Mahir ANY honor as a man, as a character.....all his good deeds were also rendered hollow with the flippant nature of his words....Bilal in general makes it appear like there is some layer to Mahir's self-loathing, defeatist flips but ultimately toh hollow hi reh gaya character. There is nothing an actor can also do with a script so hollow.

Then my other major grouse with the show is that they took a topic as sensitive as an older woman-younger man story and uska bhi ekdum kachra kar diya. Only decent and genuine bit was their initial friendship....but the sudden flip to a love confession and then shaadi derailed it all. The story became more about materialist discussions regarding money and age rather than any genuine emotions. The Mahir who was so quick to demand how much space he has in Mehru's heart barely flinched before cheating on her in the end....lol kya hi bolein phir....he cribbed about her even mentioning Hidayat but he himself freely jumped to almost marrying his ex. In such a story where the younger man is the one shown being so brash about declaring love for the older woman, ismein toh atleast lihaaz kar lete of keeping that love ki sanctity....but no, ITV ho ya Pak TV....GHATIYAPAN is always the priority.

The worst thing you can do as a person is raise a person's self-esteem and then crush it brutally....that is what Mahir did to Mehru in this story. Pehle khud usko itna praise kiya that she is so beautiful, age doesn't matter, labels don't matter in their relationship and then he himself married her for money with an instant love confession that he kept doubling down on so many times without any guilt ki pyar ke baare mein bhi itna jhoot apne matlab ke liye.....ek insaan ko itna reassurance dena ki you will always be with them and then khud hi palat jaana oh so casually ki oh mood badal gaya....like I said, such stories push the narrative that no men of honor exist in this world....the so called saath dene waale bhi ek second mein palat jaate hain for no coherent reason....lol

What exactly was there to critically acclaim in this show is beyond me. Hadiqa acted well and Mehru was very graceful, dignified no doubt but baaki story had kaafi faltu ITV type ghatiya twists and Mahir ka character toh bahut hi gira diya.

Age gap story ke naam pe dhabba tha yeh. I prefer Malaal as a story anyday on that concept.

And alia marooing attitude to him when he was genuinly concerned with her joining azfar due to his reputation in real estate industry

Thanks for posting all the clips, yaar. Filhaal toh main nahin karna chahti kuch aur binge.....Dobara ne drain kar diya and has made me skeptical of investing that much time in watching a whole show for Bilal ka koi bhi character now

And I will add one point about IM even though I know you don't care much for the show.....despite being a pretty low budget production with glitches in editing also, that show has such a watchable quality....mujhe uska concept, backdrop and simplicity appeal ki as a story. Bahut time baad kuch dekha that made me nostalgic for 80s/90s TV jab budget bahut kam tha but story mein kuch soul tha.

I have watched up on IM now I do like certain things about it but mostly it is just so hard to keep up with in terms of no flow in the story matlab ek sec kuch ho raha hota hai and next we are back to the same thing being discussed in case woh suki ki shaadi and cheque in 2 days and then again last episode ended on the grand plan of kidnapping woh phupho again and making her agree with shaadi matlab comedy ke liye bhi kuch bhi hi hai Caz how are you supposed to follow what is happening..

However I did like their beach meeting a couple of times the way he cheered her up after the jail episode the orange suit Wali jealous shibra bhi minus the lame yelling over that khanaa scene.. there are moments where they do work like ab shahmeer trying to come out with the truth too yet last min ghabra jaata hai and plati marroes.. that whole visit to his home scene was fun too but at this point where pata nahi kab and kaise shibra apparently has confessed mere ko toh samjh nahi lagi and he knows and they had that other rishta but still they are dragging the lie bas aise hi.. at this point it is just feeling like episodes poore karne hain which is why the last epi just was total repeat and felt like misplaced with half of it with phupo ko uthana and other half with that rishta guy and suddenly after all that sukiand FB ka plan..with some lameness with mehreen and woh faraz I skipped Caz cannot see 2 bad actors.. toh it is very pick and choose scenes .. yeah it is simple in their romance some very cute bits hote hain beech beech main like woh eyebko phoonk maaro scene or him making shibra agree to teach hum english with the whole drama about his fake gf but mostly in the greater picture kuch ho hi nahi raha 19 epsidoes and we are still stick where we were pehle exact that at some random point woh random window ke aage she smiled and he is like mohabbat ho gayi usko bhi and then they are discussing their prospects of marriage yet clarity keeps getting jumbled up and I would say it is a major flaw of the edit and oh if they can't even put the flow together disservice hai. Dusra how come woh real FB har jagah hota hai and yet shibra never even questions ke bhai har jagah kaise but chalo that guy and them I really enjoy so I can let it paas.. they have literally started with shibra being best friends with woh faraz ki biwi them Planning this whole thing and uske baad she is gayab as a friend too matlab huh? Shibra never even have to contact her either 😒. At this point they are losing the potential with just gol gol ghumaooing and am genuinly lost at keeping up with what to make out of it overall .. Caz story mere ko toh dikh nahi rahi woh basic plot line has been established in first 5 episodes hi uske baad to we are stuck udhar hi.

Yeh bhi ridiculous hai ke hone wale PM har waqt kuch bhi karta ghumta rehta hai and with all their so called political influence and all but poore pakistan main kisi ko pata nahi chalta ke yeh yahan hi ghum raha hai nobody recognized him lmao quiete far fetched hai.. I mean yeh kaisi party hai jisme koi chairman ko nahi jaanta and mere ko fantasy feel bhi nahi aa raha I thought they would follow up with him seeing real awaam ki haallag say af that Railway station and all and will start actually working as the politician Caz he is getting to know real ground reality and was affected by it too everytime he gets pensive when Salman sahib comments and drops his philosophies over gareeb ki haallat the social commentary. Matlab ek kaam.mahi Kia isne on his political side from.baclground hi toh saguaro kuch bhi phir toh shibra is right na ke kabhi kuch mahi badlega he doesn't have to drop his drama for rhag but jitna effort yeh kahaniyaan banae main daalta hai kaash uska 1% bhi dikha dete isse kuch political faisla karte huye bhi from.BTS hi using other people at forefront woh toh yeh shibra ka cribbing( justified over the situation) sunke bhi nahi aata thought ke uske kehne main usko patane ke goal se hi luch kar de but nahi iska woh bhi naam ka hi hai just to ghumao things for shibra ji ki life main utrhal putthal baaki toh he hasn't even shown koi intrest in his career bas faltu maarta rehta hai ke main hone wala pM and baap ko tackle karne ke liye general information.. and that is where the disconnect happen for me iska politician hona is nothing different then bade baap ki resources Wali aulaad doing timepaas in phaansaooing this girl with his extended web of lies Caz koi real kaam dhanda hai nahi. Neither is he learning anything from his fake job and Salman ki sohbat matlab thoda sa toh influence ho hi jaata by this time. Againnwihnfantasynwala hi ideal khwabin wala politician ya milk konsudharne wala angle bhi use kar lete

Woh murshid saayein excuse is working in the story for now So i give them that because there is no actual peer murshid here and they are not promoting the false peer fakiri notions so that is ok Caz jhoot hi bol raha hai but thennit is not believable ke he has so much influence but jaanglta koi hai nahi..woh hotel scene main ek uncle recognized him but no follow up..I thought ke koi party ka hoga yankuch but nahi hai... so it is very hit n miss for me as a show. I also want to know more about shahmeer and his mother track but woh bhi mostly silent rakhte hain whenever he sees her .. bas ab uski bhi baat nahi sun raha Caz she told to speak truth too.. it's time they do come out with it. Never go into all the accusations on his father too .did he really was involved in killing her? The back story nothing and that is doing injustice to good cast . Also maybe I am forgetting Maine first 6 episodes dobara nahi dekhe but when did his relationship with dad got civil? In the start toh they have showed he disliked him and his 2nd biej and unse bhagta rehta hai and now he seems to care for his dad? Ab isko Amma ji ko leke resentment bhi nahi hai that suddenly disappeared too which I think they showed in some.dinner scene in the start I barely remember it

And I genuinly want to say here I am not hating but I am just genuinly too confused with the proceedings and have questions unanswered and thatbisna problem Caz major chunk has passed of the show

Edit: also i saw a clip of the actress in khai( I don't watch the show ) but she is looking and acting so much better as authentic pathani and getup bhi better hai It took me a moment to realize it is the same girl so it is then not the actress 's fault Caz she is doing decent job in other show now I don't know of that is Caz she is playing pathanni too but then she is actually punjabi yeah I searched since you mentioned her being pathaan and her doing better as that role..so now I am genuinly confused did she get better or that just comes and suits more naturally to her .

It's ok yaar....you don't have to like it. LOL sabke apne apne thresholds hote hain for what works for them.

I'm cool with lack of story movement if story movement ke chalte CHEATER hi banna hai Mahir style.

And I'm not some great advocate for this show either ki har plot point ko justify karungi...lol my funda is that I'm watching this show like it's a play....that is why it has theatrical elements like real FB popping up everywhere as a court jester of sorts and I don't get into why he's everywhere....that's the point that he's like a kind of guide/friend/goof who just pops up in front of Shahmeer from time to time. As for when Shibra fell in love, they showed that she was softening up towards him over time and but yeah editing is weird with how they cut between some shots toh pata nahin chalta kab dream sequence chal raha hota hai and kab actual scene....lol and they didn't show the scene when Suki tells her FB is in love with her - just directly cut to her asking FB if he is in love with her and built the scene more around his reaction when she tells him she didn't feel bad about it.....

Political backdrop is also not about showing some great transformation in Shahmeer....story is mainly about what he can do in his love for Shibra....being willing to humble himself to live in poor conditions, bear insults despite being rich and powerful in reality....that is all the story is. Kuch itna deep nahin hai ki mulk ke liye bahut bada kar dega just cuz he's a PM in waiting.....and mujhe itna deep chahiye bhi nahin agar Mahir jaisa kameena hi milta hai so called deep story ke roop mein.....lol

Story ke conflicts hi bade simple hain....woh Suki ki saas ka drama is also bas childish sa comedy toh waise hi handle kiya hai....and overall obviously Shahmeer's lies will catch up with him so that is why Mehreen ko dikha diya hai now trying to kholo his pol to Shibra. But they spent the bulk of the show just showing simple, happy moments of FB ke interactions with Shibra and her family and that was good enough for me. Nahin chahiye story movement of paise ke liye shaadi and worthless fake love confessions.

And I find the actress fine as Shibra also - mujhe toh nahin lagti uski acting buri in this show *shrugs*

*Edit: Oh you asked about when Shahmeer normalized his equation with his dad....so I don't think usmein kuch fully normal jaisa hai......bas politeness jitni bana ke rakhi hai and his main issue seems to be with his stepmom, not his father. Woh beech mein I think when Shahmeer handled woh Haroon Baig ka drama for his father, toh his father started praising him ki I see your mom's political talents in you and tabse thode theek ho gaye with each other. He was pissed with his father for jailing Shibra also but he didn't express it cuz he's managing his two identity drama....lol aage jab father ko pata chalega about Shibra tab I guess father-son will clash more directly.

Hmm woh vibe nahin aa rahi mujhe....I feel Bilal ki acting is better now. Earlier shows mein toh just ok lag raha hai.
