I think you are onto something. Look at JeJ's YT views. I mean this is Hamza and Ayeza we are talking about and this was their highly anticipated comeback after Pyare Afzal. It should be getting way higher views.

Though this is more than a PTV trend and has been around for a long time. Some of the most iconic cktrs in Western media are Tony Soprano, Walter White, Don Draper. Khal Drago and Damon Targaryan in GOT/DoD became breakout cktrs but were problematic AF. Think how iconic still is Al Pacino's machine gun scene in Scarface or Leo's Jordan Belfort in Wolf of Wall Street or Bale in American Psycho. I bet you can name more iconic cktrs who were red flags in HW than green flag ones. In BW, AB's angry man hero in multiple films in 70s-80s remain iconic to this day. Now we have seen a comeback of that trope in Indian cinema (Pushpa, KGF).

This is a cycle too. It is reactionary almost. People get tired of green flag heroes and crave something new. Enter your red flag hero. Kuch saal baad usse bhi bore hojayenge aur phir good guy heroes will become popular again.

Most ml of dramas are red flag only.

People just like spicy and dramatic shows. Or shows on misery and tears.

Is the ml from Jaan e Jaan, a redflag? I thought he was mild and caring from whatever clips I have seen of that show and that might be the reason its not getting much noticed. Ayeza and hamza have amazing chemistry though.
