so if certain people in these countries post certain hashtags then other people seemingly interested in that topic would get it under "for you"..and i am not denying that, dude desi people are everywhere and a lot of their entertainment source are these shows .. but there is no hysteria where its getting trending so much that it ends up in top trends of that said country..

hope i am making sense

On a serious note, TB legit trended in other countries at its peak (that is it appeared in the trending list for the country) but in how many countries I don't know. I recall seeing tweets where they showed it in country-level trending lists for india, pakistan, bangladesh for sure. this ss is for sri lanka.

yumnibumni on X: "Pak se China tak, India se Sri Lanka tak , Bangladesh se Canada tak - Tere Bin is going places and how !" / X

This is called a hype cycle and I see this cycle more or less every year in ptv now.

Har saal ek naya hero breakout star banta hai and everyone starts to hype him to next level ke ab yeh #1 hero hai. Few months later the hype dies down and the guys are not able to carry over that hype to their next projects (whether good or bad). Phir next year audiences and fans move on to next IT hero and the "star" is back to where he started.

2021 was Ahmad's year.

2022 was Farhan's year.

2023 was Wahaj's year.

2024 is now Bilal's year.

2025 mai koi aur naya ladka aajayega.

This Alpha male trend is the main reason for toxic husbands onscreen..all red flagssmiley6 nobody is going to come to watch men in their soft era on screen ..it’s the era of Murtasim and Animal smiley18smiley29 Shahmeer is also a problematic character..wrapped in comedy and cuteness, we don’t feel the shock but it is creepy whatever he is doing, if objectively analysed..smiley22 and god forbid if they show a nice supportive husband/ man onscreen..dude is killed somewhere down the line smiley44smiley44smiley44smiley18 I’m scared for the sweet, puppy eyes Shehram..smiley36 smiley44

It was worse, I think I saw some of them compare it to Jane austen novels.

I think you are onto something. Look at JeJ's YT views. I mean this is Hamza and Ayeza we are talking about and this was their highly anticipated comeback after Pyare Afzal. It should be getting way higher views.

Though this is more than a PTV trend and has been around for a long time. Some of the most iconic cktrs in Western media are Tony Soprano, Walter White, Don Draper. Khal Drago and Damon Targaryan in GOT/DoD became breakout cktrs but were problematic AF. Think how iconic still is Al Pacino's machine gun scene in Scarface or Leo's Jordan Belfort in Wolf of Wall Street or Bale in American Psycho. I bet you can name more iconic cktrs who were red flags in HW than green flag ones. In BW, AB's angry man hero in multiple films in 70s-80s remain iconic to this day. Now we have seen a comeback of that trope in Indian cinema (Pushpa, KGF).

This is a cycle too. It is reactionary almost. People get tired of green flag heroes and crave something new. Enter your red flag hero. Kuch saal baad usse bhi bore hojayenge aur phir good guy heroes will become popular again.

I can't agree with your statement in reference to the English shows. Most of the characters you mentioned, they were protagonists and not heroes in the sense that they were not meant to be green flags or the torch bearer of green flags, they were flawed, real characters on their own journey. People loved and sympathized with those characters despite not being fully positive mainly because of the exceptional story telling of shows like Breaking Bad and GOT. I watched Don Draper and Mad Men but never idolized that character. TVD had a very young audience viewership or a segment of women who are just into bad boys, possibly only these audience mindset intersects with pak drama audience where most people like alpha males even when they are problematic.

The OP mentioned Murtasim and Ranvijay.

Ranvijay and Murtasim were not written or acted to be torch bearer of green flags.

Ranvijay was off his rockers since he was young.

Murtasim always had an anger problem and real flaws from the outset. For the longest time, so many thought Murtasim was faking it. The Jump scene and the slap scenes happened way earlier. This is not to say he did not show some positive qualities but he was problematic in so many ways (I'm talking pre e46). People who thought he was a green flag did so because they thought he was hot.

If there are crazy fans who think Ranvijay and Murtasim are meant to be green flags despite evidence to the contrary then that's on them. You may no have idolized Don Draper but there were literally hundreds of articles written at that time about why are so many people idolizing Don Draper and why they should not. Same goes for Leo's Jordan Belfort in WoWS.

Even I am a very curious person. Mujhe toh spoilers se b problem nai hoti. Jaise people say na ke don't give spoilers, we want to watch? Not in my case. Give me spoilers 😂

Same. I can take anticipation over curiosity. So I read the whole plot before watching a show. Aise hi koi khatarnaak plot twist hua tou which I can't take smiley3
