he wasn't tho.. dude had no trust and was so regressive towards women, treated consent as if as a husband he didn't need it.. and how great he was by not forcing himself on his wife.. however he did constantly reminded the wife that he could so that rape threat was always around her.. he was very physical towards women, dragging/slapping.. not to mention the eventual "angry sex"..ETA also has anger issues and was STINGY AF.. first date is in their backyard where they eat dry rubbery chicken... eff offf!
but if my husband did half the things he did (and also had hunting as a hobby), first of all won't be my husband and second of all will get divorced asap...
Two different things are put together. A human is result of their environment and upbringing, a character is not A or Z, it is the journey from A to Z. Murtasim started out as someone who believed in everything he was taught, patriarchy and sexism was normal to his environment but it wasn't a character trait as he adapted rather quickly to Meerab's way of life which was more liberal.
1 Murtasim asking her mother to marry Meerab off to someone to stop her from completing her education to Murtasim who gave Meerab application form to continue her studies
2 Murtasim who didn't allow Meerab to go anywhere without him to Murtasim who tells his mom that his wife can go anywhere she wants to and do anything she wants to do
3 Murtasim who wanted Meerab to be afraid of him to Murtasim who tells Meerab that she shouldn't be afraid of him
4 Murtasim who had trust issues with Meerab to Murtasim who didn't raise a single question on Meerab's whereabouts or Meesam's parentage
So you have an individual who was exposed to one way of life through his childhood living with that ideology then making changes in his life as he is exposed to another way of life. That's how life works, people learn new things and change themselves
