He meant he understands what it is like for Ruhi. That doesn't mean he necessarily feels the same way. He did feel that way initially like during the sangeet. Baki bash toh Armaan ho hi raha hai uske janam se. Thoda aur ho jaega toh kya hi farq padna hai.

He literally pushed her off today. Why are you acting like he silently let fix her buttons. Whenever ruhi has crossed the lines he has pushed her off and run away from her. He has no way out of this situation till the truth. He will be only get crushed till the full truth is out before abhira and the family
