I've read about Ajay Bijli (CEO of PVR Inox) being freinds with SRK and hence not giving shows to Salaar etc etc so I don't think about those things. This was personal experience that my parents had so I mentioned. Maybe people on both sides do these things when that kind of money is involved who knows.

It had become obvious already in 2022 that politcs are involved in film-making, film-propagating and film-boycotting. However I don't want a politcal discussion either... Still I think that for a certain transparency, it isn't a mistake to mention known things (as you rightly did with the CEO of the PVR cinemas).

Your narration is important, I think...it shows that those bookings really happened. My comment was only meant to show how easy it is to attribute something to certain persons without knowing. We aren't investigators who can investigate who were the bulk-byers, who ordered the reservations, who made fake show bookings, who definitely didn't allot screens from the 22nd on also to Salaar etc, etc.

There are narratives put out, supported or contested by the different fandoms...social media and other media came with all sorts of allegations...it became quasi the own task to take a position what one would trust. As always, I only trusted what I would get to know with proof and this would be the movie and my own reception/impression and the infos coming from the involved persons. Everything else became narratives for different purposes.

Exactly my point. I've lived in the US through the DT presidency and I witnessed CNN and Fox showing completely different news and perspectives of the same incident to the point I was baffled as to what the hell is the truth? And I learned not go so deep into anything that could never be proved. It was just to polarise people.

I'm biased about SRK and don't want to believe anything bad written about him. That cognitive bias comes from being a fan. But I don't believe everything about the world being against him either, to balance my bias. So I don't think about these things. I only mentioned the CEO to play devil's advocate and give you a counter to show this discussion wont end anywhere definitive.

Just a small correction - I don't 'know' about any preferential treatment from the CEO to SRK but I've 'read' that narrative.

The CEO and SRK are friends, if only business friends. But the narrative can be false or can be right...I won't judge.

But because of all the narratives floating around (negative ones, positive ones), I try to stick to what I know, what - relative to Dunki - Hirani, SRK, Tapsee, Vicky, Vikram told/tell, what documentary material tells and what members write after having watched the movie.

I look for the numbers and take them as what they are...numbers & easy to manipulate if there is the wanting to do so.

My take on SRK is that he won't use betrayal as a tool to elevate himself, he believes in hard work, not in shady methods and in being openly grateful to all the fans - in fanclubs or solo.

There is a Filmfare OTT awards in 2023. So Maybe last year onwards they've brought that in. Maybe they realised mainstream movies will never win anything because the quality of content on OTT is insane.

Rohit Shetty is on OTT now with IPF now which stars Siddharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty etc. Big mainstream actors and director. My mom said that going to PVR BKC for 2-3 people means a Net expenditure of around 5k. I was stunned at how expensive it has got and wonder more about the collection numbers with these costs. Even if I attribute it to SRK and Ranbir deprivation reaction, or hangover effects of covid lockdowns, that kind of expense is not sustainable I think. with 65-75 inch TVs in homes, its difficult to sustain.

Yeah, it seems like they decided all OTT films should just be their own separate awards ceremony now. It's the opposite with the Oscars which originally banned all streaming/OTT films but then relaxed that over the last few years.

Looking forward to IPF. It has quite a big cast with Vivek Oberoi as well. Theaters everywhere are very expensive especially for full families, then add on the cost of drinks and snacks. Most theaters in America make all their money not from tickets but from concessions.

Yes, concessions is where they make the most money. But the charges I'm told in Bombay shocked me. Also, an India vs US comparison isn't an apples to apples comparison because the ratio of avg spend on one movie at a multiplex to the avg income per person will be very different when you factor in PPP (Purchasing Power Parity) indexes.

Based on all articles and public forums I've read it seems the nominations for BA will be

1) SRK for Dunki

2) SRK for Jawan

3) Ranveer Singh for RARKPK

4) Vicky Kaushal for Sam Bahadur

5) Sunny Deol for Gadar 2

6) Ranbir Kapoor for Animal

If this is the case, this is a serious heavyweight nomination list. Excited to see the final nominations. To be honest, I won't be disappointed if any of them win.

Yes, I voted for Ranbir. Who are you referencing when saying "Where was the acting?"

Ranveer and Vicky I thought were brilliant in their roles.

Do you mean like this same shoddy acting, regurgitated over and over in every film?

Keep in mind your favorite did not even score a Filmfare nomination for his "performance," if you can call a reheated and tired act a performance. SRK is due to get nominated at least twice.

Good point, it'll be worse in India.

I think your nominations are spot on except missing Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail.

HAHAHA. Thats a great one!! Although he has given many masterclasses and I have huge respect for him for the kind of movies he's given us.

But Laal singh Chadda was only the second time in my life I have left a movie without it completing.(RGV ki Aag the other one) Calling it a torture would be an understatement. That nasal thing he kept humming, I couldn't get the irritating noise out of my ears for a week
