I don't mind him as an actor compared to others but in Hum Saath Saath Hain, his only role was to blush at Sonali and vice-versa.

He and especially Sonali did excessively blush but his role in that movie was essentially of that of an introverted you better not mess with me types. Isn’t it?

Except to showcase him as an introvert, all we saw was him either blushing or having his nose in a book while secretly looking at Sonali from behind. There's not much acting in that and it becomes a farce at some point. But Hum Saath Saath Hain's charm is partly because of the contrived acting and farcical acting so I don't consider that a negative, just don't see it as a great performance by Salman.
Good lord no.

So we are only to praise someone portraying a dumb/blind/deaf character sitting alone in a room contemplating meaning of life ?

Dozens of people have critiqued Salman's acting in this thread but only my comment stands out to you, even while juxtaposed with my stating that I don't think he's as bad an actor as others state? Shouldn't you rush to defend his honor by confronting those others first?
Your absolutely right. You are being nice and I’m being rude . Perhaps Your brand of discussion is preferable to everyone else.Originally posted by: RaniPreityAish

I don't mind but I think equal treatment is preferable so you should ask the others first and then come back to me.
That is most fair to Bhai.
Although I like Salman as an actor in most of the movies I've watched with him, I don't think that he could have portrayed the Devdas Bhansali had in mind. (Btw, I found Salman very endearing in Tubelight...yes, I'm such 'weird')
His Devdas isn't a nice character - in no way...it's an intelligent weakling whose position in the family is this of the younger son whose own interests are nothing to the rest of the snooty family.
The problem with Devdas is his inner opposition not getting expressed other than when alcohol frees him from inhibitions.
What I like about Bhansali is that he respected SRK's approach to enact a not really likable character. (I adore SRK's talent to make people root for very flawed characters)
Who here knows Nicolas Cage's role in LeavingLasVegas (focussing to kill oneself through excessive consumation of alcohol)?

He recently had his comeback hit with Sitaare Zameen Par. Shahrukh and Salman are nowhere to be seen. Aamir Khan will also be producing that...
What’s the plot behind all this? These two brothers don’t get along https://www.instagram.com/p/DNaCjQlB_NN/?igsh=MWE1bjNidGhtbm9zYg==
Salman wanted to do the remake of that Italian film on which Sitaare Zameen par had been made, he share this with Aamir. Instead of leaving it...
