The 2008 IIFA Extravaganza is taking place in Bangkok, Bollywood's favourite destination, from 6th to 8th June.
Bollywood's A-listers are expected to attend. Stars you will see at IIFA this year include brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan with son Abhishek and bahu Aishwarya and wife Jaya.
Powerhouses performers include hit jodi Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif while lovebirds Priyanka and Harman will unveil Love Story 2050. IIFA 2008 will be Harman's first stage performance. Govinda will also delight audiences and chhaliya Kareena will display some sizzling dance moves.
An IIFA official tells us, "Preity will attend the awards ceremony because she also part of the Bachchan Unforgettables tour, so will Ranbir and Deepika because they are nominated. I have no idea about Rani and Vidya Balan. The Bachchans will attend but I do not know if they will perform."
She further adds, "De Taali, Acid Factory and Mission Istanbul will be unveiled at IIFA and their cast members Ayesha Takia, Aftab, Riteish Deshmukh, Dia Mirza, Fardeen Khan, Dino Morea, Zayed Khan, Viveik Oberoi and Shriya Saran will be performing as well. These are multi-star performances unlike any we have ever seen before."
Many stars will be conspicuous by their absence at IIFA 2008. It is a common sight to see Saif and Kareena sticking to each other like Siamese twins, but Saif will not be performing at IIFA this year. Kareena's ex-beau Shahid will also be in town, keeping his long haired look under wraps. We wonder if the two might bump into each other!
Similarly, Katrina's beau Salman will also not be present as he will be shooting for Dus Ka Dum in Mumbai. Who knows, Bebo and rival Kat might bond over missing beaus!
Superstar actor and dancer Hrithik Roshan is proving what an exemplary husband he is by staying at home with wife Susanne and kids, 2 year old Hrehaan and infant Hridhaan.
Fellow superstar SRK will maintain tradition and not attend IIFA 2008 because of his infamous cold war with the IIFA ambassador. Aamir Khan will keep him company in town by maintaining his stand of not attending Indian award ceremonies.
Leaving best buddy SRK behind, Karan Johar will be hosting IIFA 2008 and entertain audiences with his unmatched humour and potshots at the members of the Indian film fraternity.
One of the biggest events at IIFA 2008 is the world premiere of Sarkar Raj. Another big event is the IIFA Fashion Extravaganza which will feature designers such as Sabyasachi Mukherjee and Manish Malhotra.
