Perhaps BwF would be a better place for this thread? Since it's about actors and not musicians?

If we post a few songs picturized on them in the thread, it's fine posting in this forum.

Hum Aur tum Aur Ye Sama from 1959 Dil Deke Dekho.

Compositions like these prove again and again the kind of melody we have lost,

Rafi is in his element as usual. DDD was Usha Khanna's first film as a Composer.

17 year old Asha Parekh looks like a million bucks.

This song! AHHHH! smiley42 Rafi's voice is like makhmal and makkhan smiley36

You say Asha Parekh, I say Shammi Kapoor. She didn't stand a chance against the dual assault of Rafi's voice and Shammi's looks! smiley43smiley42

Nahhh, she is pretty but in DDD she looked prettier, Shammi Kapoor should count his stars she debuted with him. Any way she had a crush on Nasir Khan, the director of her debut film.

Bro..Shammi was a huge star when Asha debuted in DDD! Tumsa Nahi Dekha was supposed to be Ameeta's launch vehicle but Shammi walked away with all the accolades. No question about who the lucky one is here smiley36 Even Asha will agree smiley36

You mean Nasir Hussain. Yep, she never married because of her feelings for him and the fact that he couldn't leave his family.

I am not disputing Shammi Kapoor was a bigger star, I am saying Asha Parekh was just too pretty in DDD. Shammi Kapoor was fortunate to be star of the debut vehicle of such a beautiful woman.

Dec 24th was Mohammed Rafi's 99th Birth Anniversary.

Can you imagine the Golden Era - 40s to 60s (even the 70s to an extent) - without Rafi? I cannot. And though it was the best period for music and playback singers in Hindi films (imo), his name stands tall above the rest. His simple persona coupled with his sincerity and dedication to his craft remains unparalleled to this day. As does how he would embody every actor's on-screen and off-screen persona in his voice when he sang for them.

The five songs listed here are only the tip of the iceberg in what is a vast ocean of musicality.
