Dec 24th was Mohammed Rafi's 99th Birth Anniversary.

Can you imagine the Golden Era - 40s to 60s (even the 70s to an extent) - without Rafi? I cannot. And though it was the best period for music and playback singers in Hindi films (imo), his name stands tall above the rest. His simple persona coupled with his sincerity and dedication to his craft remains unparalleled to this day. As does how he would embody every actor's on-screen and off-screen persona in his voice when he sang for them.

What are your favorite Rafi songs?

So many... When it comes to his songs, it's just too difficult to favour one song over the other. He was that good in his field. He was his own competition, I would say.
