.......the amount of hateful trolling going on on social media was so relentless, it really makes you question your own mind after a point if you like something that everyone else is gleefully hating on.
The online trolling for the movie, cast and Zoya is on a different level altogether. I almost didn’t watch it after the first 30 minutes, mostly influenced by the trolling but my friend told me it gets better after that so watched it and I am happy I did.
I really enjoyed the soundtrack yaar....actually I'd listened to the whole thing on Saavn even before the movie released and that's when I realized they really put effort into making the soundtrack....Sunoh was really fun and I even enjoyed random stuff like Dhishoom Dhishoom
Khushi's dialogue delivery is stilted just like her sister's but I found her overall more pleasant to look at and not as dead eyed as her sister looks many times. Suhana does seem to have gotten her father's expressive eyes as you said....lol chalo kisi star kid ki aakhon mein toh kuch emotion hai warna they all look dead eyed these days
. Suhana basically was playing Veronica like a pampered princess so those were the gestures she was adopting in the beginning I guess but I liked how she didn't play it in that typical aggressive manner that most of these school diva characters are done like say an Alia in SOTY....Veronica just came across as oddly sweet from the get go even as she's flirting with the boys or just being a pampered princess in general.....lol
You are so right about difference between Alias character in SOTY and Veronica in Archies. Suhana was able to portray the vulnerability, loneliness and innocence without being bitchy or mean. Betty was the sweetest and kindest, but thankfully they made all other characters having flaws but not outright brats or being super mean, which is kind of a template for teen movies.
The Reggie guy can go places if someone gives him the right opportunities.....I even learnt that the girl who played Ethel - Dot is a musician in real life and Zoya had been following her music since some years before she cast her in this....lol that's the thing about Zoya - she does curate how she puts together her cast for her projects....it's not just a random dump of starlets. She shows meaningful scenes even in simple stories as you said....that one Reggie-Dilton scene rounded off both characters so well without making a big sho-shaa about it.
Ethel was adorable and she carried that hairstyle so well.
I saw the end credits for the names and DOT just brought a huge smile. I didn’t know she is a musician , Dot seems like a screen name she adopted? I simply find that name super adorable:) Reggie could have carried the role of Archie to the T. He had that smoothness and charm:)
