The way they built up the dread of the gas leak....as you realize just how close to the factory so many of them live and once the gas leaks, the way they all literally start dropping like flies....it's horrifying to watch.

In the post Covid era, all this hits even harder cuz now we live in a world of such instant communication that we get a real time sense of what that must be like when people are dying in mass batches over something you feel helpless in front of.....and to think that was a time when there wasn't even much communication or news. I asked my parents about it too and they said the same thing that Juhi and all were saying that no one even heard much about this when it happened in real time and no one had any idea the death toll was actually this high.....the news was suppressed for various reasons and no one really had an idea about the magnitude of this tragedy.....it literally happened in the CENTER of the country....lol Madhya Pradesh is smack in the center of India and most of India didn't even know what happened there....amazing.

The director meticulously addressed so many different parts from the corporate negligence/coverup to the negligence at the factory as well.....the bechara local journalist trying to find proof but still being thwarted in the end cuz of a loophole....

I loved what the cast said about wanting to do this to put a spotlight on an often overlooked group in India - the Railway employees who literally connect almost every part of India in this expansive rail network.....how they all stepped up that day when they could have chosen to only think of themselves.....how they chose to run TOWARDS the problem to solve it rather than running away to save themselves.....heroes without trying to be heroic about it......it showed in all the little things that ended up making such a huge difference.....the employee who managed to use the detonators at the last minute to get the Gorakhpur express to slow down otherwise it would have crashed into the engine at the platform....Babil managing to switch the tracks at the last minute or the two trains would have crashed into each other....everyone was just literally trying to do whatever they could manage in the moment without thinking of their own lives.

Even the moral conflicts were shown so well with Divendu's character and his struggle about whether to get on the train and leave for himself but then seeing KK's character literally fighting till his last breath to save everyone also making Divendu do the same......man that scene when they think they've loaded everyone on to the train and are about to leave but the bus of pilgrims arrives who are then trying to rush onto the train - you get goosebumps literally over the sense of despair those guys must be feeling about how to save everyone, how to get them on the train when there's barely any space left.....all this is happening while people are still just dropping like flies on inhaling the gas also.....phewww it's so overwhelming to watch, can't even imagine how people lived through it.

And I was amazed to learn that they actually got like 1000-2000 extras to make the crowds look realistic....it isn't CGI....that was actually all extras jostling each other around in the crowds on the station. YRF did spend on the production....just that they didn't go for building a grand set and tried to keep it more grounded and close to the actual visuals as they showed in the ending credits also.

Exactly! That is when you seriously go into wowzers zone that how really people had hardly ways to communicate send quick informations and realize particularly why lives were simpler too but then there were disadvantages too in such cases and yes I particularly liked how in this they didn't try to paint anyone white and showed it closer to reality that there were faults in every department a disaster could have been prevented with all the information but no body valued the lives of those poor workers and the bigger city Caz of the selfish interests they showed even then higher up in railways too trying to palla jhado the government not trying to address and act all oblivious Caz everyone had to save their ass forst and zimmedari kisi ko nahi leni hoti and kal kya aaj bhi yehi hai it really always come down to lower jobs in hierarchy who actually try to stay honest for the most part and do their jobs like here. Caz then if anything they are questioned first and blamed but also have integrity. It was insane the way they didn't even wanted the scientist guy to come and help with all the knowledge Caz that would have brought even more expose on their parts how they permitted that. I felt the journalist's anger real hard but that is the unfortunate reality of our countries VIP treatment har jagah even the culprits who do such mass murders har jagah paisa chalta hai. And hardly much changed in that department corruption rules everywhere..

Yup the arc of divebdu's inspector was so well done too he was shown as a human with his own rules and thresholds above his greed..it was such a touching bit where he was consoling the little guy and showing him empathy teaching him life lessons along the way Caz he probably came from same bg too..and by the end how he actually changed it was also very cool to see how the SM database also figured he was the bandit by the end but then had the respect for him that mutual respect they both developed along the way working as a team really good stuff and we Don't see aaj kal bonds forming aise naturally without being shoved them down our throats that was the thing that was such a highlight for me too these people thes3 workers they hardly knew each other or even if they had old bonds the way they all became a team and the kind of mutual respect amd teamwork they put up it just didn't matter loi dost hai dushman hai kitna experienced hai that night they all jad one goal and how they put their own self interests to the back and came together.

That graveyard scene at the end was Goosbumos inciting and so harsh esp when they actually put in perspective how some may not even have been identified well and gotten the goodbye according to their beleives or may not even have been dead but executed Caz it was so hard to tell with their limited resources and blanket dead declared or their names weren't even in the lists but that jappens in these disasters and they are the real heroes.

Also read that the SM it actually is based on he survived that night but had lifelong complications and lungs issues after that for over 20 yes and sadly his name is not even on the memorial Caz he survived that day but he was the commander in chief that night saving lives..also liked how they merged the 84 dange the way they showed humanity even before that in gorakhpur that mother son and the guard track it was so nice to ser the good and bad of all communities come together to save them be it Salima's mother or the gyard everybody doing whatever in their capacity and then that mother being concerned about the guard.. the whole team sequence and esp when they didn't even know what was going on in that dabba serious claustrophobia but scare and horrifying baahar zehar andar yeh..fab it was they made us feel through that night as if we are trapped in it.. and that is a win..and God aisa waqt kisi pe na laaye koi bhi diasater it is hell and may people value the live over their selfish reasons more

Yeah it is so refreshing Caz the recall value and then we'll done usage of that nostalgia with proper credits Really a rarity in t series world which likes to just steal they actually have a special thank you note for Rehman at the start too.. also it is kinda troll in a way too caz a certain segment was bashing Ratna films and trying to hype vanga but vanga himself goes and puts ratnam tribute in it haha EPIC
