It isn't astonishing that opinions will differ. Expectations aren't a good thing.
As mostly, I had none, went into the film open for everything...and it is exactly what it should be...a (not really) simple story lived through 17 years old youngsters with different backgrounds and aspirations and the parents/officials of the town with very different powers over their life.
There is a lot to praise, imo...and the acting is fine enough, especially when being attentive to the differences in attitude/changing in attitude at specific points in the narration...very good direction.
The focus is on the youngsters who all do work besides school (except rich father's daughter Veronica who comes back from London with an attitude). I don't think that there had been too much focus on the three star-kids because there often is interaction with non-star-kids' characters (who also get their distinct place if one is attentive).
Suhana is, imo, quite courageous to take on a role that demands (for a rather long amount of time) superficial behaviour and a showing-off attitude)...interesting that the moment she is confronted with her father's plans (first by Betty) her attitude changes.
It is, indeed, a musical...and although I'm not that young anymore I had fun to watch the movie (and certainly will watch it again in stop and go manner to enjoy everything that passes too quickly in a one-go watch...a movie done with a lot of love (is Zoya an Archie fan?).
Even being a person who write loong essays here, it caused me dizziness looking at that length of post by kjo, I don't think I ever saw such a long post in insta
can you post that ?Originally posted by: Kyahikahoon
Read the film companion review. The guy is confused if it's woke enough or not..and whether that's a good thing or bad 🙂
he really used the word in his review.
One thing is clear though..he isn't much impressed
I am quite surprised at the reviews, seems like most like all 7 kids but Khushi seems to be getting a lot more praise for her role.
I wonder at what point will Suhana PR kick in?
I am not going to lie, my heart sank when he said "compassionate eyes". That is the one thing I always loved about Sridevi. I wish he didn't use these words to describe Khushi.
