They are so stupid that the answer lies in the narrative itself - Why this shameless lady AnupaMaid was busy with TamaShahs and ignored a growing child who required more attention than adults being bratty or pretending to be sick

In the precap Anupama is telling Kavya Vanraj is in guilt and that's why he's behaving like this. The amount of extra understanding and care she shows for her ex-husband, where does that disappear when it comes to Anuj? Was there even a tiny bit of that during the Samar death track, even later? "Sorry for all the wrong that happened to you", that's all she said at the end. Did not address everyone's mistreatment of Anuj and how much he had to go through. None of them apologised to him. But for Mr. Shah, as usually there's overflowing empathy and care. And she's advising his current wife who has no clue what he's going through but Anupama apparently does. Whatever Vanraj said is actually right, about Anupama staying away from Shahs and them employing a maid but now they're going to twist this and make it something bad that Vanraj is doing because of his "guilt".
