I hope we can all agree that toxic masculinity and violence against women are social evils that we have to address as a society. I hope we can all agree that a movie that creates a protagonist that celebrates such behavior and draws in audiences to celebrate such behavior is a problematic movie.

Personally, I think we could do so much better if we tried to see what we have in common and collectively stand against something we all disagree with. I know there are many ways of being a woman and a feminist. I do find many of these ways distasteful and disagreeable. But hopefully, someday, we can have a fruitful discussion about that. However, I think we need to find common ground when we are dealing with toxic masculinity being celebrated on such a grand scale.

Anyway, I really hope I can convince women celebrating the film's success to stop doing so. I wish fans were not so one-dimensional. I know the urge to celebrate your favorite actor's success. But sadly, this is not a film to celebrate. When a popular and mainstream actor does such a problematic role, it can set the entire nation back several steps. We can and should criticize our favorites when they do something that goes against our morals.

For us to have fruitful discussion one day. We will have to take measures today.

Social Media outrage would not help because even Kabir Singh had outrage. Did it stop Vanga? No

Conversation that is needed to be encouraged is the normalisation of such action in society we live in.

About how to impart knowledge to young impressionable generation.

To enlighten them. To educate them about how such abusive behaviour should not encourage or aspired.

The importance of such chapters in our curriculum.

Education leads to building of right kind of society.

I am the only Ranbir fan on this forum and i surely don't support his character or Vanga s thought process.

Ranbir himself said that character he plays is dark and his behaviour should not be encouraged.

Stand should be about boycotting this film and all such films altogether.

Because at the end of the day, all the entertainment industry care about is money and at this point this movie is minting a lot of money.

The nation has already been set backwards when Rapist were welcomed by prominent politicians with garlands

When Martial Rape is not considered Rape.

When Men who have been accuse of physical violence and casting couch are still very much relevant.

Don’t take the TM seriously …they have habit of twisting feminism. ACC to them priyanka is a delusional like kangana and the affair with srk was in her head for her gain .. and Katrina stayed in apparently abusive relationship with Salman to get ahead in career

This doesn't seem like glorifying violence against women to you? Ranbir's character, who does all this, is made out to be the hero. No matter how other characters react to him, soft-focus storytelling makes this abuser criminal a hero.

Yes, because disagreeing with what a woman did to get ahead in her career is the same as celebrating the glorification of violence against women. smiley1

No but good attempt at twisting again. Plain and simple the problem is you fail to note is in both cases you blame the woman first… is this your brand of feminism

Err yeh…no one..I repeat no one endorsed all this

There is no hero here ….his dad laments that he gave birth to a criminal in the movie …his wife leaves him after trying her best to slap sense into his head …he is not shown as any semblance of a normal human

And some of those atrocities are done by bobby deol who is shown as the most disgusting man of all time’s …a clear cut villain

Just because the characters are played by leading men of Hindi cinema, dosent redeem or celebrate these acts …

people celebrating ranbirs performance is not the same as people celebrating his character …let alone violence against women…no one is celebrating that

It’s like saying the Oscar’s celebrated violence and drug abuse and toxicity against women by nominating wolf of Wall Street …

First part of my definition of feminism is don't support violence against women.

Nah. You don't get away with claiming I blamed women first. I think it's very very clear in my posts I blame Vanga for being the toxic piece of crap he is. I'm also blaming women for enabling him because their fav is in it. Because they know this movie for what it is and are still celebrating it.

As for PC and Katrina, you don't need to agree with everything unethical a woman did to be against violent crimes on women.
