Ranbir's ex now with Imran Khan

Mumbai :Imran Khan, the nephew of superstar Aamir Khan and filmmaker Mansoor Khan, is the next film heir to hit the Bollywood marquee after the grand debut of Rishi and Neetu Kapoor's son Ranbir in November 2007 with the disastrous Saawariya. Bollywood film royalty never had it so good. Comparisons between the two actors are inevitable, but being of the good old film stock, Imran's career sure looks promising. Imran made his first public appearance orchestrated by Aamir, on Tuesday evening at his debut film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na's music launch held at veteran Shammi Kapoor's home in Mumbai.

His girlfriend, Avantika Malik was there too alongside the rest of his family comprising uncles Aamir and Mansoor Khan, mother Nuzhat Khan and Kiran Rao. Imran is going steady with Avantika and it's common knowledge that the two twenty-five year-olds are very serious about each other.

But Avantika, who is the daughter of CNBC TV18's head honcho Vandana Malik, was dating Ranbir Kapoor prior to dating Imran.

Of course now Ranbir is seeing Deepika Padukone. Avantika and Ranbir are still very friendly and on good terms despite having moved on in their personal lives.

I hate how the media makes Deepika sound like a 'playgirl' type person with her apparently three-timing MS Dhoni (when she said whatever relationship they were portrayed to have was all media created), Yuvraj (when she said 'we were just friends') and Ranbir at the same time. I mean, Ranbir is no less. He's apparently dated Sonam (media-created though, and probably for promotion of Saawariya), Nandita Mahatani (which is gross because she was his cousin (Karisma Kapoor)'s husband's ex-wife; she is also 10 years older than him, that doesn't make a difference though) and now this Avantika Malik... isn't he equally a 'playboy'? Then why is he always portrayed as a 'saint' when Deepika is 'evil' and 'playgirlish'? Both have had their share of relationships, so why the double standards? ...

Unfortunately it is always like that though in the world. Girls are always scrutinized more for their relationships when guys are allowed to go out with as many as they want but will not be called manwhores. Look at the malice going Ash's way for her relationships when the fact is that there are men in the industry dating far more people than she was. So now Deepika is being treated the same way. I am not a big fan of Deepika or Ash, but I definitely see a double standard to the way heroes and heroines are being treated both by the media and the public for their behavior. Date as many as you want to date, but it is ridiculous when a big hullabo is made about someone and yet there is a double standard when there is a male. Sorry to patronize folks, but Rohit.Khanna's post struck a nerve, and the feminist in me felt a need to respond. 😊

Thanks for replying, and sharing your views. I'm a Deepika fan but when I see the 'slander' media prints about her and what some people say about Deepika on this forum, I feel bad. Just because she has had boyfriends in the past and present doesn't mean that Deepika has a 'bad reputation' and therefore a girl with 'loose character'. The guys in this industry are no less, ranging from Salman Khan, who's dated Somy Ali, Ash, Katrina etc to Sanjay Dutt, who's on to his 3rd (?) marriage... probably the only one who's the media calls a 'playboy' is Saif, having jumped from Amrita Singh to Rozza then Bips (? not sure) and now Kareena. So, why double standards... If girls are called names for having a history of boyfriends, guys should not be spared for having a history of girlfriends/wives...
