I've friends (female mainly) who did only watch both movies once because it's really not their genre...they prefer him in movies where his charm is working...and I've friends (mostly males) who had a sigh of relief that finally he did those movies (and they prefered Jawan to Pathaan).

Jawan was time pass. But in retrospect, it was way too over the top. SRK was all over the place along with the story.

But I really did enjoy him in Pathaan. Although he is beloved for his romcoms - one of my favorite SRK roles is Don. I enjoyed how we took such a classic and beloved role and managed to make it his own. Albeit it had a lot more action, Pathaan did remind me of Don and was enjoyable.

For me as an SRK fan, I enjoyed Pathaan and Jawan more for his success than his performance. These two were big hits - but they don't light a candle to some of his best roles.

I think in Dunki we can see his comedic side

I have not watched pathaan, but jawaan was watchable well i liked the message. Even though i felt the movie could be edited for 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Some action scenes were dragging and not needed.

Many of his other movies were bigger blockbusters but he performed well in these ones

Jawaan disappointed me. I thought it would be way better than Pathaan, which was an average movie. maybe my expectations were way too high after reading reviews and seeing the rush for the movie. it was way over the top especially the action. and i feel the young shah, Azad should have been played by a younger actor. it just looked weird to me both shah in same frame as father and son. brutally honest no way Azad looked like a son to Rathod.. all female characters were weak. i did not feel any impact, what missed opportunity. maybe i am in minority who didn't really like it , but hey movie a massive hit...so 99% seemed to love it.

and about vfx..i am worried about animal ., i hope over confident vanga keeps the violence and vfx in moderation. right now. Its sam bahadur, merry christmas and Dunki (even without teaser) looks intriguing to me. tho Hirani's last outing..Sanju was a letdown.

RRKPK and SPKK tops my list. also enjoyed OMG 2

Baazigar and Darr were big successes and brought him to limelight..but this list is my preference on his roles and acting..others may have different choices

Briaahna, it is very clear that action movies aren't 'your' genre...and I guess, you're in good company with all those who love SRK in movies of other genres.

My knowledge of action movies isn't as vast as other genres, but if Hollywood-used Western reviewers and Hollywood action specialists laud Jawan the way they did and recommended the way action had been represented, I tend to believe them, especially when it wasn't SRK they focussed on.

I knew that, one day, SRK would try to fulfill his dream of doing out-and-out action movies - with giving them nevertheless his 'stamp of thinking' inside the story.

He did it...with Pathaan focussing on another subject than he did in Jawan.

I easily can do with the stylised violence, the logic-defying stunts and a ShahRukh made younger, that is cinematic entertainment belonging to what is made possible through technics nowadays.

But both movies have a content that has nothing to do with action...and that's the part I find magically put on screen.

As for SRK's performances...they are as nuanced as in movies named in lists here (but one may not notice with one watch).
