the movie was shandaar mixed with k3kg, Neill and Nicki with revenge of Tamasha(for the spouses). but I liked it because of ranveer's comic timing and kjo's directorial style. a little preachy though.

I went through a few comments online and now Wikipedia has the entire plot given. I anyways was not going to watch the movie so just read the plot. 😆

Is KJo again promoting extra marital affair on the name of love?

I read that Dharmendra and shabana had EMA. Rocky and Rani arrange meetings for them after knowing that their grandparents "loved" each other.

If they were not happy in their marriages why didn't they seek divorce?

Nope. I was sitting. I usually don't get up until he starts pulling me out of the cinema.🤣 The only exception was TJMM where I wanted to get out and forget I even watched such a movie.

I am yet to understand how TJMM did not flop. Such a weird film it was.

I didn’t like this part in the movie.
For whatever reason if they didn’t seek divorce then, still it’s not justified to show their reunion and pda in front of their families. Initial couple of moments or reference was ok/funny but full blown song and continued track was 😳 what was KJo thinking but oh well. It’s KJo!!

Shabana said she cheated Cos husband was beating her son and was an alcoholic 😞what a way to justify your cheating 😬

Cheating is a cheating ; you have found someone else just leave . Don’t come up with this bulshit reasons , excuses.

Kjo and his obsession with infidelity

So here are my two cents on this film!

This Kjo world in RRKPK doesn't resemble his usual universe. It is not in London or isn't anyway sophisticated but the Randhawa's i.e. Rocky's family own a cheap replica of the white house and are filthy rich flaunting their diamonds solely earned by the matriarch Jaya B's sweets business. A Shayar dadaji confined to wheelchair, his Male chauvinist Pig I mean son with daddy issues, mom straight out of star plus both literally and figuratively, an overweight behen and the flashy son with poor English.

Their introduction was meant to be a personification of Kajol's dialogue "Paison ke Ameer Dil ke Gareeb Kabhi na Jaye eeshwar ke karreb".

In contrary, Rani's family is supposed to be the exact opposite with a modern Dadi, non-quintessential dad, a literature addict mom and a "woke" daughter.

Ranveer does what he does best and is super convincing in his character. He is totally winning here and quite literally carried the film majorly on his shoulders. His emotional scenes were too good. His kathak performance was top notch and he tugged a few strings of heart twice or thrice in a few scenes. The best of his dialogs were during his proposal, him apologizing to Mr.Chaterjee, when he takes a stand for his dad after Durga Pooja, then him taking stand for his mom. He was too good.

Alia as Rani is such a wannabe Barkha Dutt in the beginning. Looks like they tried to give a Miss Chandini in Main hoon na kind of look to a journalist. She really tried her best to look Sexy. She somehow couldn't pull the feminism part convincingly. In those scenes about a man's opinion on rape or her explaining the concept of consensual act, it was all looking as if she was merely putting out facts. Overall, she was neither convincing as a professional nor as a person who changed the perspective of a family.

Breaking stereotypes, being woke and cons of cancel culture was all they were trying to show along with some anti climatic typical bollywood style songs.

Was there a film ever made without Kjo justifying extra marital affairs? So here we have Dharmendra and Shabana justifying their "love" due to insensitivity by their partners. Domestic abuse in case of Shabana and wife being over ambitious in case of Dharmendra and not accepting his poetic heart. Jaya B was criminally underutilized with rather ghastly expressions.

My friend was constantly saying it should have been Big B and Rekha here instead of Dharamji and Shabana. One can only dream of BigB and Rekha onscreen ever 😭. Having said that why should Jaya be sad and alone onscreen aswell?🥺

Tum kya mile was looking aesthetic on big screen. However, there's absolutely no chemistry between the leads. Ranveer was repulsing from her hair falling on him. Again one can only imagine SRK and Kajol 😔. Dhindoora baje re was looking like school dance. The other songs were not that great but Kudmayi was like Papa Jo's giving his beti the dreamy destination wedding that he feels she deserves which did not have Bengali elements.

Overall, the story was meh. This film makes Ae dil hai mushkil look like a Masterpeice. The old songs in the film were soothing and beautiful. There was no millennial vibe anywhere in the film. Ranveer somehow managed to make a few scenes likeable though he has nothing new to offer. Alia was such a wannabe throughout. The senior actors were also underutilized.

If people are rating this film as a quintessential Bollywood vibe film. I am 1000% sure they haven't watched Kal ho na ho, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, Yashraj films etc. This could be a one time watch for people who are literally desperate for watching any hindi film basically.
