Biryani. When you lather ghee on the first layer of the hot piping biryani when it gets off the pot - it's pure heaven. Matka/Pot biryani is man's greatest creation, I believe.

Also the South Indian in me can't resist masala dosa from Udupi. Coconut chutney and coconut shavings inside the dosa cooked with butter, soooo damn good.

I love instant ramen. Instant ramen is the often vilified culinary hero. The perfect qq noodles, the warm, comforting broth, and of course, the sodium bomb are just the hug you need when you're sick or down or just need a pick-me-up.

As a child, my favorite comfort food was paej. Its a soupy brown rice made in Konkani households. It is served very simply with a big dollop of ghee and salt to taste. Pickles and crispy papad also go well with it and add textural contrast. My mom would make paej whenever I fell sick.

With paej in mind, I naturally fell in love with congee. It's basically paej but with other kinds of seasoning. My favorite kind is with preserved pork and egg.

Rasam rice is another comfort dish that always makes me happy. What I love about rasam is each person makes it differently. Sometimes it's peppery. Sometimes it's tangy. Sometimes the sweetness of the tomato comes through. Sometimes it's so spicy it clears your sinuses. Sometimes it's mild and goes down easy. Sometimes it's soupy and you can drink it from a cup. Sometimes it's thicker and melds so nicely with rice.

Try Rasam with a dash of jaggery in it. Heaven🙌

So many South Indians here. 👊

Talking about the South Indian breakfast items, piping hot idli dumped in lots of ghee eaten with Avakaya. 🤩🙌

My grandmother's macaroni with homemade green chilli sauce and a roasted potato

Mashed rice mixed with curd in a semi circle ( this is important and I can't explain why ) and payar molakooshyam ( sort of a soup. Cook cowpeas with red chilli powder in lots of water. Garnish with caramelised shallots or onions .That's it but tastes great.)

@bold

This cracked me up🤣.

BTW In this post you are sounding like Bollyqueen. I wouldn't be shocked if you say you are a twin sister or twin brother of Bollyqueen😆(based on this post only as I have not seen your other posts though)

@bold

You are reminding me of my brother. He put sugar in sambar and he dip idli in that sambar and eat😬
