Sweets sweets sweets. Especially our Indian ones. Though I don’t discriminate much amongst them,Mysore Pak is my most favorite.

I also love my pongali ( also called Pongal, Kichidi etc) with lots of ghee and black pepper….😍

Chocolates, especially snickers!

I guess I was too inspired by that "Hungry, grab a snickers" ad😆. So, not only when I am hungry, even when I feel anxious, I love to eating it..

But, this is only when I am outside. At home, comfort means sleep😴..

Generally comfort mood means that one food you can eat anytime and it makes you happy. For me it’s Dal Chawal and raita. Healthy, tasty and easy to cook. And chai. :)

If it’s about junk got to be momos and bao.

Mashed brown rice and dal arranged in a neat semi circle. With really spicy okra sambar. The okra has to be fried with salt for exactly fifteen seconds and no more or the whole thing would be ruined.

My grandmother's macaroni with homemade green chilli sauce and a roasted potato

Mashed rice mixed with curd in a semi circle ( this is important and I can't explain why ) and payar molakooshyam ( sort of a soup. Cook cowpeas with red chilli powder in lots of water. Garnish with caramelised shallots or onions .That's it but tastes great.)

I love instant ramen. Instant ramen is the often vilified culinary hero. The perfect qq noodles, the warm, comforting broth, and of course, the sodium bomb are just the hug you need when you're sick or down or just need a pick-me-up.

As a child, my favorite comfort food was paej. Its a soupy brown rice made in Konkani households. It is served very simply with a big dollop of ghee and salt to taste. Pickles and crispy papad also go well with it and add textural contrast. My mom would make paej whenever I fell sick.

With paej in mind, I naturally fell in love with congee. It's basically paej but with other kinds of seasoning. My favorite kind is with preserved pork and egg.

Rasam rice is another comfort dish that always makes me happy. What I love about rasam is each person makes it differently. Sometimes it's peppery. Sometimes it's tangy. Sometimes the sweetness of the tomato comes through. Sometimes it's so spicy it clears your sinuses. Sometimes it's mild and goes down easy. Sometimes it's soupy and you can drink it from a cup. Sometimes it's thicker and melds so nicely with rice.
