PC can never catch a break lol. You do what you gotta do to survive, simples. As if most of us haven’t been guilty of saying or doing something to fit in. (Assuming she made up the tupac answer)

Oh well, she’s still reaching heights no desi has ever reached in Hollywood entertainment, and for someone that’s not in their 20’s anymore, that’s pretty damn impressive to me. And to the guy in this video - PC has otherwise never shied away from her Indian heritage, whether that’s naming her kid, her wedding or just random interviews, so don’t really understand the hate implying she’s totally whitewashed.

Have you seen how far some model minorities will go to be assimilated and accepted into Western culture? There is a level of fakeness to all immigrants as they wrangle two cultures. It just happens that celebrity attempts tend to be more hyperbolic and viewed through a magnifying glass.

Jennifer Lawrence played the cool girl. Taylor Swift played Miss Americana. Kardashians Kardashian every second of the day. Even the westerners are faking it to make it.

PC was in her SRK era and is now in her Tupac era. What gives? 😆

No, most well adjusted humans in their 30s and 40s do not make up stories about their childhood to fit in. That’s what kids and teenagers do to understandably survive peer pressure. It’s not becoming of adults let along public figures. If she gets called out for making outrageous statements more often than other celebs, then there’s a reason for it.

Didn’t realise saying Tupac was her first celeb crush was such an outrageous statement, geez. Not sure why you think peer pressure is limited to kids and teens only, it most definitely is not. I know grown ass desi men who would rather tell their white colleagues in a corporate NY office that the last concert they attended was a Taylor Swift concert than admit they attended a Badshah concert lol why is this any different?

It is an outrageous statement when you make it to appeal to a certain demographic at a time when you’re trying to establish yourself in an industry catered to that demographic. She started making these comments during her “hip hop” era first. Not before. Peer pressure when limited to kids is understandable. Any grown as adult making statements to fit in needs to get their heads checked. Just because you personally know some of these people in your real life, doesn’t mean the rest of the world operates the same way or will get a free pass if they do.

Why are you assuming she is making up stories about her childhood?

I’m so glad you don’t have to deal with the feeling of feeling like an outsider or desperately trying to fit in and are that confident in life. Congratulations!! Sadly, not everyone fits in to that category. Let’s send every insecure person that’s not a child or teen to a specialist to “get their heads checked” 🤪

Yeah you’re so right ! This reviewer called Sucharita is popular and has bit of a desi way of talking. From the looks of it she fits the definition of a well adjusted person lol. She did an interview with the Oppenheimer team recently ….visibly putting up an american accent that is unlike her.. so what? I don’t see why shape shifting in situations is something to be crucified for lol

Arsalan be honest. Did you post this because the guy presented Sonu Nigam as one of the options for her possible crushes?

Thank you! I used to work with a guy that would put on the Apu from Simpsons accent every time he referred to the Indian IBM team. And sure, this is anecdotal but he’s definitely not the only one (there was a whole documentary on this after all!) It’s so easy to say why did the Indian girl in the team put on a European accent to avoid embarrassment or she’s a grown ass adult, she should just confront him. Indians are many things, but very rarely confrontational. I don’t enjoy fake accents and it does make me cringe but like I said, do what you gotta do to survive and make your own life easy.
