did the makers steered away from Malti Devi story to focus on maaya ?

Have the makers steered away from Gmaa's story & moved to MAAYA AS VILLAIN ? Is it just me who thinks so? Why makers are not focusing on guruma. How does she everything about anupama ?? Does she know Anuj had left Anu??
