No offence taken.
Maybe it's because I'm a fairly new viewer of Ghum and don't know more than half the crap they've shown that I'm able still enjoy the leads chemistry.
And where there are cases like "Pehredaar...", there also cases like Balika Vadhu.
Yes, there isn't much positive to say about todays ITV dramas, but in Ghum's case, IMO Sai is one of those characters who gives as good as she gets.
The mistake from the writers was opting for the 3rd angle and not focusing on Sairat having to finally deal with their trust/PP-related issues and using Vinu more to keep them apart and give them angst.
No the mistake was where she started accepting abuse as a form of love and anger, a lover has towards his woman. The mistake was when they denied to address all the wrongs done by the PL or ML at all, not even through dialogues. No show has actually that kind of treatment towards their tracks.
Third angle would have worked if the writing & execution was proper. Sai does not gives as good she gets, otherwise both ML & PL would have been jail, infact even the Chavans at least for one night. Sai was played with in order to establish toxicity as love and Virat as the ML.
Here we have a smart and intelligent and famous doctor walking on the roads being a bechari who is unable to fetch autos, unable to have her own car, depending on her ex to travel. This is what she has been reduced to. This is the most basic bit though.
Chemistry has a lot to do with character sketch initially and then it relies on actors completely when script goes haywire. Saiya were loved and great when Sai sat down cryng and Satya sat beside her being just a support. That and suhaagraat, they were great, but they never explored it at all. Sai & Satya would have worked if makers worked on them. Sairat were exhausted and destroyed as a couple ith what happened during Vinu snatching, there was no going up from there. They established there, that despite everything that Sai had to deal with, including loss of a child where her husband gave her no shoulder to cry upon, after miscarriage(a woman deals with a lot, much more than a man can imagine) that Pakhi would always remain superior to Virat over his wife. Sai was established as an orphan, she had to go up from there, not come down to the muck Virat & Pakhi belonged to. One cant develop the amt of toxicity they did for 6-7 months & resolve it in a day expecting the "strong" woman to just forgive, cause she is so giving.. The build up of regressive tracks in this show was given a lot of months, while never did they focus on fixing it, not even a dialogue between so called leads.
