The famous song from MeA sung by Bade Ghulam Ali Khan saab- I recall the anecdote narrated by my father wherein K.Asif wanted only him to sing this one and despite Naushad's warning that Khan saab just would not sing for films, he approached him. He and Naushad entreated Khan saab, and just to dissuade them Khan Saab quoted an insane amount (my dad did not know what amount, but later I found out it was 25000/-, an unheard of amount in those days for singers). K. Asif agreed without batting an eyelid and Khan Saab had no choice but to agree. But apparently, K. Asif was not happy with Khan Saab's first take and said so - which of course enraged the legendary artiste and he demanded that the scene on which the song would be played be shown to him. So Asif shot the scene, edited, made a print and screened it for Khan saab, who of course approved of the 'khoobsoorat' pair & setting and toned it down a notch to get the mood right!
