The problem with Amba is she was obsessed and dev wasn’t interested at all. For whatever reasons he might have had. ViDev ‘s relationship was based on mutual consent, love etc.

dev prioritizing his family and expecting his wife to do the same kinda relates back to the emotional abuse that Minami was talking about. Yes you can love your family and prioritize your family, but it doesn’t have to be at the cost of you- always. Satya and co have always taken advantage of that. Yes they love him, but they have always allowed him to sacrifice his needs for them. Nobody said anything when dev gave everything of his away - they made a fake attempt of saying no. But they never refused it and said it was his right and he shouldn’t give it away.

I have said this in the past too, but I had wished they would show dev learning that he has to prioritize himself and vidhi over the rest. And same with vidhi. But the way the story has developed over the last few months, I don’t see even the smallest chance of it happening.

Cant blame makers for this.

This is to do with the Indian middle class mentality.

Most of the times thr first son Or daughter has to assume the role of a scape goat by default.

It's taken for granted .. The person is left with no choice. Doing anything otherwise is seen as selfish. I don't think a family drsma like nuksh will challenge that notion.

That's the reason I like kuch rang pyaar ke.. Where the mil learns a lesson about boundaries and is shown taking up initiatives to become independent which was wonderful.

Must watch.

I hope Dev babu has a memory loss and turns Zorawar for a day😜..

Didi , hamla aur amba ki aisi ki taisi😝

Binged watched it last night. I hate characters abusing and swearing, it's too jarring to my ears but Iqbal does it with so much conviction and effortlessly. Especially one where he is sitting in his office cabin asks his assistant to F&$,% off... words came out of his mouth like maskaa.. .

Zorawar should be Dev's alter ego!

This is true - but why not try and break these cycles in fiction atleast. If a show can portray healthy relationships in a believable way, then the audience will respond well to it.

I do think younger kids get away with a lot - mainly because they get experienced parents versus firstborns - but never to the extent of the older one will sacrifice everything for the younger ones.

Television propagates such dangerous stereotypes that it is important to try and change those narratives. Love does not mean sacrifice - being good does not equate to becoming a doormat.

I'm guessing eben though she was never evil, but she never gave the unconditional love that a child deserves so he kept the balghar thing too hidden from her. He assumed the job of bread winner of his family at the cost of his own personal life, which Sathyavathi and her kids have taken advantage of..

We sometimes see this aspect in families ( not necessarily step mother) .. Where mothers provide unconditional love to the second or third child even if the child is a brat but the first kid always needs to be responsible and perfect to deserve her ove ( here love is not unconditional) ..

I think this is a kind of emotional abuse. Dev has been enduring this from the childhood and with Vidhi too.. Instead of setting boundaries ( with Hamla and also hilly) he has learnt to accept emotional abuse. He has never seen unconditional love. This is my observation. Could be wrong.

Thank you for explaining.

This is absolutely correct.

I guess few shows do try to break the trend like "Kuch rang pyaar ke aise bhi" ..this was one show which both young and old generations could watch together,

But most of the shows are overdoing it..like showing blind beliefs and customs which probably is followed by a miniscule amount of people..

God knows when this nonsense will end.
