The problem I see in discussing the issue displayed in The Kerala Story is something that I experienced in the discussion about TKF (and many other issues, too): generalisation & stereotyping
Wrongdoers are - in my thinking - first persons who do very wrong things regardless any other attribute. It's only when I look for possible reasons for the wrong-doing, I consider life defining conditions.
I’d rather any kind of discussion than none at all and everyone stay mum about it. The aim should always be to educate people, not shut down conversation full stop. And no, this is the problem. It’s not regardless of any other attribute. In the cases I mentioned, religion was the biggest driving force. It’s a bitter pill no one wants to swallow. Dare I say, stereotypes across all cultures and religions exist for a reason.
