Some other movies which I loved -
Tere Ghar Ke Saamne - such an adorable and wholesome romcom. Dev Anand / Nutan's nokjhok, and chemistry was so fun! Especially the song 'dil ka bhanwar'.. I had such a big smile on my face watching her get flustered, and yet flirt with him❤️❤️
Why don't they make films like this anymore?!😭
Agantuk - One of the only few films of Satyajit Ray's that I haven't seen and finally got around to seeing. I would love to write an entire essay on it, but this was a fine fine movie. In fact, his finest. The dialogue, the script - so intelligent, powerful and thought-provoking. And Utpal Dutt - man his screen presence was enough. One of the finest and the most underrated actors ever! THIS WHOLE FILM WAS SHEER GENIUS!
Parineeta - So much better than the Saif / Vidya version which I really liked. So much more understated and real.
Dil Apna Preet Parai - Loved the romance between Meena Kumari's character and Raj Kumar.. those glances, the understated chemistry. One of the more romantic films I've seen from the older lot.
I liked -
Baiju Bawra- damn that score!!! We need more films with classical music at its fore. Meena Kumari and Bharat Bhushan were really good! There were bits towards the end that had a melodramatic direction but it was a very interesting story!
Saraswatichandra- how is it that all these older films are so much more progressive than the films nowadays. Nutan's character had such strength and her reverence for Saras despite the restrictions and all that she went through was beautifully portrayed. Also that actor Manish. He did well in bringing out the softness, and calm. Their pairing was lovely. I didn't understand the ending and why she made that decision for him, and that kept me from 'loving' the film.
