The Kerala Story Excellent Opening - Guardians Of The Galaxy 3 Decent

The Kerala Story has taken an excellent opening all over and is practically a HIT film already. The film opened advances on Thursday evening and they ran fast on Friday clocking up sales which match the likes of Cirkus, Bhediya and Shehzada despite these films having advances open for many days and the Kerala Story had just one day.

Last year a similar film The Kashmir Files opened at 3.25 crore nett plus and The Kerala Story will be far better. Now whether it gets support further down the line like The Kashmir Files is another story but with this initial the job is done. Like the Kashmir Files there is little cinematic value but the film is controversial and pretty blatant in being negative towards a certain community. It got passed by the censors but just after a few shows it is having issues in Kerala with exhibitors told to stop screening the film.

Guardians of The Galaxy 3 had good advances which ended better than Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Jaan but they have to better for Hollywood. The actual opening is fair but this points to slow business in current and if it finishes ahead of The Kerala Story it will be down to the advances. In current The Kerala Files is doing far better and running at a much faster rate.

Guardians is from the Marvel brand but that brand has been hit by sub standard films in the last couple of years with only Spiderman No Way Home hitting expectations. Another problem for Guardians will be that it is heavily front loaded so the opening weekend is so important.

For a movie with no big stars and no well known faces to take this kind of money post pandemic is pretty impressive. Like I said, the trailer was well cut. This doesn’t appear to have released internationally? I may well be wrong, but wonder why?

I always felt Adah Sharma was under rated
