The only thing that could have changed my opinion would be if they had a full on angst filled push - pull kinda scene later in pvcy but nada he got himself gift wrapped and presented to her!
I think it was done to present him in a bad light esp. infront of Saba. We did see some bts(post separation) where he comes to Saba's house to know abt Meerab's whereabouts and I guess Saba will not disclose it.
