I think most probably it was an accident giving her relentless drinking habits and being totally careless about her condition after been over drunk, as it used to be reported time to time in many filmi magazines when she was alive and how she used to sit in a corner in a bar chain smoking & endless drinking to forget some personal issues and career stressors.

Sri too had to struggle a lot in bollywood look at her early journey in hindi movies her voice used to be dubbed she was not fluent in speaking hindi dialogues

Later on she went on to become big coz she worked on her flaws and luck was on her side

But with divya we are being harsh she was just 19 when this tragedy happened she was getting work on regular basis it's just that she had to have little patience who knows she might have climbed up

God and destiny had other plans

Oh stop it. Sridevi was a top star in South at 19. She had been acting since 4.

She had a much tougher life compared to Divya.

Divya was only cute. She had no real acting talent or hots.

I would say even Sonam (Tridev girl) had a deeper voice, greater sex appeal and better dialogue delivery than overhyped Divya at same age.

Divya killed her own potential by marrying so soon and also with her drugs, smoking and booze, unprofessional ways and tantrums. Married actresses had no takers in 90s anyway. Even if she would have been alive she would have been mainly a 90s starlet like Sonali or Juhi. I hardly believe she had ability to be as big star as Sri or MD or Hema or even Ash.

Divya made her film debut in 1990 with the Tamil feature Nila Pennae. She acted in several south films before breaking through with Vishwatma and the song Saat Samundar in 1992. That was a landmark year for the actor as she had 12 film releases. She also picked up the Lux New Face of the Year for Deewana at the Filmfare Awards in 1993. The actor had a promising career ahead of her which was cut short by her death.

Remembering how he came to know about her untimely death, Shah Rukh said, "I pray for her soul. I was sleeping in Delhi and they were playing my song, Aisi Deewangi. I thought I've become a big star. I didn't know how to become a big star. The film was a big hit. Suddenly there were these songs playing and I woke up in the morning and I saw that she had died. She had fallen off from a window. It was one of the biggest shocks, because I think I was supposed to do another film with her."

Divya's last film was Kshatriya in 1993. Rang, Tholi Muddhu and Shatranj were all released after her death.
