Divya Khosla and Mukesh Bhatt have once again landed in the middle of a heated conversation after a new audio clip featuring both of them surfaced online. The discussion follows Divya’s earlier claim that the makers of Alia Bhatt’s film Jigra copied the story of her film Savi. The issue had settled down for a while, but Mukesh Bhatt’s recent comments and the leaked audio have pushed it back into the headlines.
The controversy began soon after Jigra released in 2024. Viewers had expected strong numbers from the film, but it underperformed at the box office. Around that time, Divya accused the team of lifting Savi’s plot. Mukesh Bhatt, speaking to Lehran Retro, dismissed the allegation and said the film drew its idea from Mahesh Bhatt’s 1993 release Gumrah, which itself was inspired by Bangkok Hilton.
He questioned the motivation behind such claims and said, “I don’t know what Divya did for publicity… people create controversies to attract media attention… Alia is such a big star, she doesn’t need to steal anyone’s story… she would never do something so low… I can guarantee that. She has no need to indulge in such cheap behaviour.”
Soon after, an audio clip of Divya and Mukesh Bhatt began circulating online. In the clip, Divya asks him directly: “Sir, what is this circulating online? Have you said something against me, that I did something cheap? Are you calling the controversy I raised about Jigra a publicity stunt?”

Divya then raises her concern about the timing: “This came out on my birthday, sir… every website is carrying this article, on my birthday?”
He responds calmly, “Child, this is all planned… if it’s coming out on your birthday, someone wants to hurt you. I didn’t even know it was your birthday. I would never do something so low. You know me.”
Divya tells him she respects him and mentions how he supported Savi during its shoot. Mukesh advises her to ignore the noise and enjoy her day. Jigra, meanwhile, struggled commercially. Made on an estimated budget of around 60 crore, it earned only 31 crore in India and around 50 crore worldwide, with most shows dropping off by the second week.
