Today was a clear contrast of the difference in the critical thinking of Anuj and Anupamaa
Not to shame the characters, but it also points to the difference in their education levels. The higher education is supposed to give you critical thinking to solve problems and build life lessons, not only work skills.
Anuj has clearly reflected on his life, since marriage. The leaving of choti, a child he wanted to raise with love of his life has broken him. However, he also recognizes his failures in the marriage. Hence the decrease in love too.
Whereas Anupamaa either refuses to take on this reflection or does not even realize it. One can say her character never had the capability, due to the lack of the critical thinking life skill or had time as she is always busy dealing with the daily issues in Shah's lives.
Its almost like where the average person is struggling to survive for basic needs, they do not have the ability to actually act on the larger topics that would impact their lives.
Plus her trauma response is to take everything personally. She never tried to actually improve herself, either through building skills or even therapy.
Had she engaged even in the financial course, she would have learnt more about the outside world. How others live, think and use her money for betterment of her Kapadia family.
Her behaviour now simply seems more immature compared even to choti, who was sensitive to her parents. But alas!
The show will butcher other characters and continue to do so to build Anupamaa's character.
The couple is not compatible at the end as of now. Unfortunately this being a tv show their love will be pushed to bridge that gap.
The only real life lesson learnt is to always work on yourself and not get complacent in relationships.
