It was the maker of the documentary (Smriti Mundhra) who had the deal with Netflix (the producer). It wasn't a YRF production.

The director is not always the producer. It's by YRF productions. At least, that is what most sources say. And that is why it garnered criticism for being a paid promo for YRF instead of an authentic documentary.
