Why showing woman weak?

I don't like the old way of showing love story of between ML and FL. Woman is in distress and Man become savior.

1) In today's world, everybody can book cab online but the serial has to show that FL wandering unknown place in search of auto and get into trouble. Even if woman can't be strong physically unless prepared but they can protect themselves by handling smartly. If Katha is handling this for so many years, she must know this. But for showing herogiri of ML, they have to show FL dumb.

2) They are going to Lonavala which is cold place and Katha didn't carry her jacket. Wow. So that they have to show cringey way of showing herogiri.

Can't they make love story of really strong and independent woman?

I find the reasons you pointed out really minor, and have nothing really to do with being strong or weak.

Katha stands up for herself, she works hard to support her son and fulfill his needs without borrowing from others, she doesn't engage in mindless gossip at work and even though she might not have agreed with her colleague's affair she didn't make any judgments and spoke to her professionally. She has raised her son alone all these years. She fought hard to arrange money for her son, and didn't give up.

I don't see how she's not a strong and independent woman. Especially when compared to pretty much most FLs on ITV.

Yes it is minor but it is nothing new. It is still 10 years back story which I have seen lot of time. Atleast show she is not able to book cab then she went for search for cab. This is something basic which nowadays every person take care.

Independent does mean just earning. Independent mean taking basic care of self.

I don't think that what you are saying shows women as weak. Many people don't use online cab booking services or apps, even in the corporate world. I don't. If I need one I flag down a taxi or my company books me one. That's legitimately something people still do today.

And I don't think there was any plan to stay in Lonavala overnight. If you'll remember, in the episode before Katha said we'll leave early in the morning and be back by the evening. Yes both packed a change of clothes, but people often do that just in case they need one for some reason. Plus she was wearing a full-sleeved shirt and there was no plan to end up spending 2 hours+ outside a dhaba. You can't plan for everything.

I also don't think that in any way were both things to show weakness or the male lead's strength or to show him as a saviour. When he offered to drop Katha home it was because they were late and he didn't think she would get an auto that late. When he did "save" her from those lewd men, he didn't make some heroic gesture in front of her to impress her. He just made it known that he was there and that chased them away. He beat them up later only because they insulted their relationship. And today he offered her the jacket because he himself wasn't wearing it. It's not like he took it off and gave it to her. And she did originally refuse, but accepted when he insisted.

For me, there's nothing wrong with both sequences, nor does it show Katha as weak. And no one is perfect. These small moments show that even in between independence, we all need someone once in a while. If they didn't have these moments then Katha would appear superhuman, which she isn't.

Heck even when she was crying and panicking when Aarav went missing and Viaan helped her along didn't show weakness to me. Any parent in that situation would react like she did and the other would have to step in and be a rock while panicking internally. In a way, that situation perfectly imitated real life. Viaan was panicking as well for Aarav. That's why he stood outside the Gerewal house to ensure that everything was okay and only left when he saw Katha come out with Aarav.

Showing FL helplessness just for the sake of love story is showing her weakness.

Katha is independent for years and she is not just going from home to office and vice-versa. She is travelling here and there, sometimes carrying her kids. It's her foolishness if she doesn't have online cab service in big cities.

Yes they are not planning for night stay but even evening got cold in places like lonavala. Atleast show her carrying coat like Viaan has.

I am saying in this new age, don't show this kind of things just for the sake of increasing closeness between lead pair.

I didn't say anything about kids lost case. That is something sudden. But if things are planned then she should take care of herself.

Yes but I can counter what you're saying here and point out that she has been travelling for years like this. When she refused Viaan's lift, she was confident she would get an auto. It wasn't just out of spite. That shows someone familiar with travelling late at night. The only reason she took Viaan's lift later was because she did get scared. Anyone would when confronted by such lewd men.

As for the coat, maybe she forgot or maybe she doesn't own one. One thing I'm loving about this show is that when they say that someone is middle-class or has budget problems, they don't show her living in a lavish house with new clothes everyday and a swanky car. It's realistic. She repeats clothes, she has a 1 BHK flat that she rents, and she worries about her house budget. So maybe she just doesn't own a coat and relies on full sleeved shirts to keep herself warm.

I don't think they are using these moments to develop a love story. These seem more like natural moments that happen. If you think about it, there was no romantic background and wind in the hair when Viaan handed Katha his blazer. It was just another moment in the episode. Similarly with the lift, there was no slow-mo action and then slow-mo walking to Katha and then slow-mo leading her to the car. Heck even afterwards they didn't show Viaan beating the men. They just showed him getting angry and then their broken faces.

I rarely see auto stand these days after ola/uber come. Also auto these days won't stop because they were pre-booked. And not every place you can find auto easily. Katha is not teen girl to make this type of mistake. She is experienced and modern. Especially someone who hesitate to ask for help, they are usually prepared for these kind of normal things.

Regarding coat she has coat which she worn in Dubai or the one she wore in office party. Sure she is not rich because her whole money went to hospital but she is earning well now (more that 1lac) if she is lead engineer in reputed firm.

The love story can take forward without showing unnecessary help from Viaan. These type of gentlemaness is out of date.

I have some issues with Katha as FL but these points are really insignificant and illogical

Hmm maybe it's different in India then. Coming from Canada, I know for a fact that not everyone has Uber/Lyft on their phones. People still use regular cabs. Mainly because we have great local transit and cabs are more of a rush need.

Yes but if you think about her pay - I bet at least half of it goes into house rent, EMI payments, and insurance payments. Then she spends heavily on Aarav as well with his good school, his new clothes, cricket training, etc. She probably has only about a third of her pay left every month for regular house needs like groceries and herself. I'm not saying she isn't doing well, but she does seem to have a lot of expenses. I think in an earlier episode they showed her make a 24,000 payment towards insurance premium.

I saw in one episode Viaan is signing Katha's check which is more than 1 lac. I agree now she won't have enough money now because all money went to chemotherapy and medicine, then post surgery treatment, hospital bills etc. She may have debt also from her friend for Aarav treatment. Insurance money is usually annual or half-yearly payment if she is paying 24k. Also nowadays schools fee have to pay for 1 year in advance. Also karate class and cricket coaching should have big fees. It is ok to show she doesn't have party dress just after her son's treatment and lot of stuff just come after that. But not everytime.

Actually this makes different from other series where FL are usually from poor family and low profile job. And it make love story more difficult where woman doesn't have to rely on ML for small things. That's what I want to see things here.

Katha is not stereotypes woman like other FL. When she says she can handle alone then show like that. Falling in love should not come from how ML is treating you nicely. Nowadays 2 collegue fall in love because they have something in common or impress by others skills/intellect.
