Is this film releasing ?

Please let me know. It got shot way back during Covid times. Yet there is no release date in sight. Meanwhile, after making the critically acclaimed film Jogi and massive blockbusters like Bharat, Sultan, Tiger Zinda hai, Ali Abbas Zafar is honoring himself by working with no talent Tiger and flop streak Akki? I will always appreciate Ali Abbas Zafar for daring to make a film about 84. But when is this film releasing? It has already been shot and was supposed to release theatrically a long time back, but there is no release date in sight. But imagine from a talent like Diljit Dosanjh to Tiger Shroff. What a promotion! Tiger does have more hits to his credit in Bollywood. Does anyone know if this film still is releasing theatrically? And when?

It it is likely that there is a problem with distributors who are hesitant to release the movie, or the price has changed and negotiations are going on. It is always easier to release masala movies for profit.

This is a crime comedy movie. It has Booman Irani famous for Munna Bhai and other commercial comedies. It is a very commercial movie. Diljit at least has some box office pull with the Punjabi diaspora worldwide, Punjabis, and others in India and Pakistan. Maybe not enough to make a Bollywood film a hit. Akki seems to be struggling. Tiger, despite having hits to his credit, has a flop last year too.

I don't think Diljit's pull is the problem (he's popular), Akshay has like 3 dedicated fans at this point, but he has a much wider net of distributors he can gather money from to produce his movies.

Personal connections and distributors are crucial. The reason why Dharma got so big was because of KJO's knack for distributors.

Ali Abbas Zafar is pretty big. He made some of Bollywood’s biggest hits in the past few years before Pathan. Like I said Bharat, Sultan, and Tiger Zinda hai are the few films that were still giving south competition before Pathan. He can’t get distributers? He is very close to the Yash Raj banner.

Very much so - it's easier with people like Bhai in your movies but otherwise nah. You'd be shocked how many big names aren't as consistent with distributors. These distributors have their own whims and fancies too - they may not like the subject material, or Punjab diaspora, or whatever else. They also might be waiting for the right time to release movie since most are flopping now.

Normally distributors care about profits. They should know Diljit’s shows worldwide give western pop artist competition every show is so sold out. Oh well their loss! 🤷‍♀️

They're probably waiting for the right time to release for max profit. So many movies are on the backburner in a similar way.

Grumpy, I only know about Diljit's Punjabi film Punjab 1984 (written and directed by Anurag Singh, from 2014)...

There is no mention about the movie in the article elsewhere neither on imbd nor in Wikipedia, but the Diljit-Ali Abbas Zafar movie Jogi (on Netflix now) is about 1984...only Jogi's character has nothing to do with a detective...

Did you watch the movie? I think, the article isn't relatable...

This is a completely different movie that Diljit already filmed with Ali Abbas Zafar in the summer of 2021, I believe. It is not Jogi. It is another movie they made together it has yet to release. I do know why it is not listed on IMDB. A lot of upcoming movies are not listed there.

This is a comedy commercial movie. He is working with Diana Penty and Banita Sandhu in this film.
