Please continue. Do write a courtroom drama. I'm badly craving for one . Shah's getting their karma.
Ah, my legal knowledge, is so, so inadequate...to the point of almost non-existent! There is a reason I did 'out-of-court settlement' in the story and tried to make it look smooth.
If I actually write something, it would probably look like this, like a small taste of it:
The silence in the courtroom was rife with heaviness. One by one, the series of videos shown depicted varying degrees of abuse, violence and the foulest language.
The louder and noisier the videos became, the heavier and more pronounced the silence became.
Various scenes shown kept lingering on everyone's mind.
Baa screaming: "I curse you Anupama, I curse you and your family! I hope it breaks apart! Everything is your fault! Everything! Didn't you hear me - I'm cursing you!"
.
.
.
Vanraj grabbing Anuj's collar and shaking him: "You don't know who I am - you utter one more word against our family...you don't know what I'm capable of, I'm a lion, I'm the king of the jungle!"
.
.
.
Choti Anu, face lit up with joy, trying to touch Pari but only for Baa to screech "No, don't touch her!"
.
.
.
Vanraj, unable to bear the silence of the court, rose up before he realised what he was doing: "Objection, your honour! These videos only depict the most negative parts of our family - the Shahs are actually one of the most respectable families in the community - "
While he said respectable, Baa tried to force her face into what she thought was a smile of respectability and nodded her head vigorously.
Ms. Judge looked at him with disapproval. She turned to look at Shah's family's lawyer.
"Mr. Lawyer, please keep your client under control. Mr. Vanraj Shah, you might think you're the king of the jungle, but this is not a jungle. This is a civilized court and you are just another citizen. Please sit down and don't utter another word unless permission is given"
There was a slight sniggering in the court, quickly hushed.
Vanraj looked like he was going to react again but his lawyer pulled him down.
Once the submission of evidence was over, the judge gave a long sigh. She looked tired. "As per the evidence presented, it is noted that the foster mother of the child in question is in extremely close association with the family of her previous marriage. It also appears that the said family is physically and mentally abusive, regressive, uncivilized " and with a glance at Vanraj "and frankly, quite deluded. A close association with such a family does not seem like the right fit for a growing, 7 year old child under any circumstances. Forget a 7 year old child, it does not seem like the kind of atmosphere fit for a human being of any age." The judge couldn't help adding.
Anupama looked on, making versatile award-winning helpless faces while Maaya stood there, unable to contain her joy.
It was time for Maayan.
.
.
If this gives you the smallest bit of satisfaction, have this. And if there is anyone who actually have some amount of legal knowledge and want to give this a go, please do!
Beautiful! Just right.

Thank you soo much 🥰🥰💖💖
Brilliant ❤️
Bold : 🤣
SoulSpiller, this is a fantastic narration.👍🏼 Polar opposite to the nonsense on TV. Writers of this show must be ashamed of their work.
Thoroughly enjoyed reading your story. ❤️ 🤗
"overwhelming sense of peace" that Anuj feels is an accurate description of what parents feel when they know that their children are safe/in safe hands. That is a feeling that no amount of wealth can bring. Kudos to you for the right choice words in this context.

Ah, thank yoou! I'm not a parent, but many times when I write it feels like the characters are telling me what to write, not the other way around. I'm glad that part resonated with you and I'm glad you liked it.
